EI Question
In an effort to reduce costs, my company just announced that we are going to shut down the office for 8 days spread over the next year. These days will be unpaid.
Does anyone know of a program under EI where we (the employees) could make some kind of claim for these days?

The discharge period is consecutive days. You're essentially experiencing Ontario "(Bob) Rae Days" when he was the (NDP) premier during the last significant recession.
You are also not unemployed.

Yes there is a 2 week waiting period . Plus technically you are still employed & not laid off or anything although its a temporary lay-off for 8 days.
The only place you get paid for this kind of temporary lay-off is in an unionised environment say like the auto-worker's who still get paid a percentage of their salary if the plant shuts down for a week or so due to excess inventory or slowdown.
