Electronic stores and other stores worth going to in Beijing?
I'm currently in Beijing and I'm not sure if this city has any major electronic retailers like Bestbuy. I know most electronics can be bought in Zhong Guan Chun, but things seem a bit different there compare to electronic stores back home. I'm not sure if most of the stores at the malls at Zhong Guan Chun are selling legitimate products. What do you guys think? Are there any electronic retailers in Beijing? My friends here are telling me to go to Carrefour and Walmart, but I'm looking for something equivalent to Bestbuy or Futureshop in Beijing.

hey i went to china last year for vacation. try to look for those huge electronic flea market places where theres like a million staals inside and they're always busy, packed with tourists. these places dont sell fakes but compete against each other to sell products, so the prices are LOW! i dont know of any cross country retailers, like best buy, but these flea market places are the best. i remeber i bought a 2 GB mem disk for my psp for $40 CAD. the 1 GB version is $60! i dont remember if this was beijing or not though.

How can you guarantee this? I know what places you are talking about, but I don't have any way to find out if the product is real or not. There are hundreds of those stores at Zhong Guan Chun.

usually they give u a receipt to exchange, but since ur not a resident, u probably cant exchange it. howevr, the fact that they give out receipts gives you a good idea that the products are real, since residents can shop there as well. ask them to give you the product to test/try and to see all the papers it comes with.
i got my mem disk last year and its still working today. the only bad thing is that with mem cards and such, u cant open them up to try.

Having a receipt and having the product working does not prove it is legitimate. Have you checked the serial # with the OEM?
I have been to Beijing and Shanghai, and browsed around a bit in some of their department stores. From my experience, the so called legitimate prices sell electronics at higher prices than what we can get here in Canada. If the prices are too good to be true, then you should assume they are.

Well, looks like Best Buy is entering the Chinese market... but in other parts of the country:
http://www.china.org.cn/english/BAT/161401.htm
It says "June"... so, probably open already?
It mentions other national competitors so there must be other chains..

how are the steamed buns!?!?!?
the electronic markets aren't that bad for buying smaller stuff like mem cards accessories etc. what exactly are you looking for? Best buy opened all over china already, so just find one.
Also electronics ARE NOT cheaper in china. Just get the small things that don't cost too much to begin with.

They taste good and I hope you don't mean that story about cardboards being stuffed into the "bao zi".
I don't see a Bestbuy in Beijing and you're right, most electronics here are more expensive than in Canada and or the U.S.
