The End of The Simpsons

I can't comment on South Park, as I've never seen it. Early in its run, Simpsons drew a lot of fire for "pushing the envelope" for a cartoon - people equated "cartoon" with "perfectly acceptable for all ages" and were shocked to hear their 4-yr-olds saying "Eat my shorts".

South park has done some episodes that are far past anything simpsons ever tried to do.

One that comes to mind is the epsiode where Timmy and Jimmy(the two handicaped kids that they make fun of) are training for the special olympics. Jimmy takes steroids, gets beafed up, and kicks ass at the olympics, smoking records. He also gets cranky, beats his girlfreind and mom.

At the same time Cartman fakes being ******** so he can enter the special olympics and win the $10,00 grand prize. But he ends up finishing dead last.

That's pretty much par for the course as far as south park is concerned.

Wow, are they really going to continue on for another 4 years? I thought the actors were already fighting to end the show last year because they asked for a huge raise. It must be so boring and tedious for them .. doing the same thing for 15+ years ...

If they had relied on shock value the last few seasons wouldn't have been so dull.

I find that some of the newest episodes are the funniest yet.

I totally agree. The last couple of seasons were kinda dull, but it's picking up again... The best episodes was went Conan O'Brien was working for The Simpsons.

I haven't seen terribly many of the newer ones, so I can't really say. Simpsons is constantly showing reruns, though, and the major Simpsons-heads I know will watch them again and again because they age well and are still funny the second, third or fourth time through. That's something shock-based humour can't match.
