Energy Assessment scam: new twist

Had two scumbags at my door today claiming I had made an appointment for an energy assessment. Problem is, they knew my name. Which means some scumbag company is selling names and addresses and these douchebags are integrating that info into the con.
Whenever someone asks a question that starts with "Why do they..." or "Why don't they...", the answer is always a) money, b) stupidity, or c) both.

It is not hard to get your name if you are the registered owner of the house.
I would just slam the door and say no thanks.

Is better to answer the door than ignore it nowsday. Just to show that there are people home in case they target empty houses to break in.

I thought so as well.

At least unsolicited ones.

That's why I thought they now call you and use asny pretence to get you to make an appointment with them - then they are legally allowed to knock on your door and try to sell you something.
