Engineering vs Commerce (?)
So I graduated with a college diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (sub: Industrial Electronics), but I decided to continue into electrical engineering. I am 1 year in to the degree, but I'm really thinking towards a transfer to a commerce degree. Finance has been my interest all along, but still I got through my 3 year diploma at college thinking that at least I will have some sort of education (and in QC you need a college diploma before going to U anyway...). I've been in counselling for 2+ years to try to "find myself" but it didn't help me.
So now I am really stuck in deciding which one I should go for. Engineering seems more "prestigious", and I've heard of people who graduated from it being able to work in different fields. Also, I like the fact that it is professional. But, my interests are more towards the business field.
But, theoretically, which one would be more versatile, or more useful to have?

Two complete opposites. If you enjoy (that's the key here) engineering, I'd stick with it. You can always go a finance route with engineering background, but it's hard (note: impossible?) to go from finance to the engineering route.
I would finish engineering, if you like it, graduate, and try and work in that. If that doesn't work out you can always go in to finance via the CFA. To do the CFA you do not need a finance degree, and being of an engineering background I'm sure you'd be quite capable of learning what is required to write the CFA exams. You could also go the MBA route as well.
edit: Also, with an engineering degree they know you can grind out a gruelling day (class is like a full time job isn't it?). I recall a finance professor telling the class about a student he knew who was in engineering, who was an engineer, who got his CFA and (years later) went on to head up the commodity markets division for a big 5 bank. Without his engineering background (something to do with mining, not sure?), he probably wouldn't have landed that job.

As hvc said above you can go from engineering to commerce but not the other way round. But if you've already done a commerce degree then you don't need to do anything else if the fields you are going to don't require technical know-how.
