Funny or Die had some fun with the concept some time ago

I know it's not possible, but damn it, just make a show about Batman!
They already did that. It was called Batman: The Animated Series.

Since we're talking about live action, I'm not considering cartoons in this discussion. There have been lots of good Batman cartoons with TAS being the best of the bunch.

I never really got into Gotham. I'm a Superman fan and haven't gotten around to Krypton yet either. Some of these shows are a little too detatched form their superhero origins to spark my interest. At least Gotham has Bruce Wayne it it. If was a die hard Batman fan I'd watch it , like I watched Smallville because it had Clark Kent in it.

i feel the same... they did that with the more recent battlestar galactica. caprica sucked ass and of course tanked before a full season. i couldn't get past the second episode but heard they do have the original cylons making appearances.
no matter where you go, there you are.

Is there some sort of restriction on making an actual live series on Batman?
This is ridiculous making a show about a butler. I hope it tanks hard.

Pennyworth. Alfred Pennyworth. Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred, sir? At your Majesty's service.

I'm on the train and watched the trailer silent but I get another vibe from it.

Apparently WB are real iffy when it comes to the heavy DC hitters appearing on smaller screens. I seem to remember that's why CW went with Supergirl instead, and why, despite constant references, there's no sign of Batman in the Arrowverse. I actually think Batman makes for the easiest of all to translate into a TV series - in fact, I'd love for a Worlds Greatest Detective show rather than a punch-clowns-for-giggles show.

What's next? 6 seasons of the life of Thomas Wayne leading up to the moment where he gets shot in an alley? Where we learn Martha's affair with Penguin's dad and how Joe Chill was apparently Thomas's nemesis for years before he became a hobo? This is the Solo thing all over again. Some details and stories are probably not worth the trouble of telling.
