European Stocks Help

Hi,
I'm looking into building my portfolio.
I'm really interested in purchasing Euro stocks,
Where can i do this?

any suggestions?

You can buy ADRs (American Depositary Receipts) of major European stocks on the NYSE.

Best is to keep your Euro holdings in the form of ETFs or mutual funds as Euro stocks are much harder to research (a lot less info seems to be available, I don't know if there's a Euro version of EDGAR or SEDAR).

Easiest is to buy ADR's on the US exchanges. For example, Vodafone Group plc is listed on the NYSE under ticker symbol VOD. Buying that ADR is the same as investing in Vodafone in the UK, except you don't have to pay the high commissions that most brokers charge when buying on European exchanges.

As the first line on the Wiki page shows, LVMH is listed on the OTCBB (Over-the-counter Bulletin Board) under the symbol LVMUY. So you can buy it paying normal US-trade comissions most likely, check with your broker to make sure. You have to be a little savvy when buying it though because on the OTCBB the spreads may be insane, so don't put in a market order but a limit order - you can check what price to bid by checking the price on the Euronext exchange and then translating that price from Euros to US$ using the rate for currency exchange.
