Sorry for double post, but if I can't get an answer soon enough I need to get refunds for the games I bought requiring the videocard.

Extending power connector cables?
Bought a 9800XT today and it is nice looking. When I plug it in and start my PC, it shows "Compaq" like it always does, then freezes before I can do anything. I removed the card and it works fine now. My 4 pin power connector cable wasn't long enough, so I unplugged my DVD drive to test the card. Without having the card in, and unplugged the DVD drive, it also does not boot.
I need a power connector extension. Is there any retailer in the GTA that sells them instore? What is the name of this product anyways? Best Buy would have it? Stooples?Last edited by Setz; Aug 11th, 2007 at 10:43 PM.

im not sure what your old card was... but be sure to uninstall the driver first, then turn off the pc and connect the video card, install new driver.
if you unplug the dvd rom, unplug the ide cable aslo....
try that, gl_______________

Perhaps an image could explain more clearly than I ever could. I had integrated graphics before, this is my first videocard. The Molex 4 pin connector isn't long enough to reach the videocard 4 pin connector. Originally I unplugged the DVD drive so I can have some leeway to stretch the cable further. I need an extension for the power connector cable. Know where I could find one?

I thought I already answered your question in the previous thread. That's 4-pin molex Y splitter will do the trick. ~ $4 at CC ....
It looks to me you can also try to lower the HD by 1 slot and it may reach the video card.

ya moving the hard drive would probably do it. if its a compaq you probably have to take the front face off the computer and it will just slide out.
otherwise the y splitters can be found almost everywhere.
