USB Flash Drive Problems

I have 2 32 GB flash drives that are giving me problems that I am sure are common. Hopefully someone has a solution.

Basically, the first USB drive (a Centon) would usually not get recognized by my 4 different computers but every now and then I could get it to work. The last time it worked, I low level formatted it and now it is recognized by the 4 computers but only in certain ports. It still doesn't work in some.

The second (a Verbatim) only works in one port of one of the computers but not in any other port or computer. The Verbatim is still under warranty.

The Centon after low level formatting is recognized by my tablet but the Verbatim is not.

I used to have all sorts of issues plugging in USB drives giving BSODs until Acronis True Image was found to be the culprit. Acronis is installed in all my computers. But that was versions ago and the verbatim was bought after that.

What, if anything, can I do about it?

LF: propane BBQ for now, but convertable to NG later? suggestions? and possible?

hello all, I want to get a NG BBQ, but I can't afford to get the line installed right now (a little over 100') plus the new BBQ. My old propane unit caught fire on the wife the other day, so its toast...literally...no one was harmed, just the 10+ year old BBQ.

I was wondering what is a good propane BBQ right now to get, that I will be able to convert it to NG down the road?

I'm going to be checking out the BBQ deals thread shortly, but thought I would ask here as well

I'm not an expert on the conversions, so I'm just wondering a few things:

A) is that considered a good idea? to convert from LP --> NG?
B) any drawbacks of doing this?

thanks for any and all advice and suggestions.

Window wells - landscaping

Doing our landscaping and we have the standard stell window wells. Going the interlock route - likely mega trafalger or equivant.

There has been some descussion on removing them and replacing the steel ones with one of the following:

1) replace with timber
2) concrete
3) prefab type - Rockwell
4) arbor stone
5) wall stone - yet to see this type
6) add a window well liner

Wondering what you guys think?.

Our basement windows are really large and provide alot of light in the basement so we'd like to maintain that.

Was told that using arbor stone around our windows would be $800 just for the stone for 4 or 5 windows.

Another follow up to this would be window well covers - in this case, we want to maintain air flow as we open our windows fairly often. The bubble type doesn't really impress me.

Any thuoughts/pics of what people do with their old window wells. Alot of people in the area, just keep the old steel ones or have replace with rectangle concrete type.

Shopping for fabric to reupholster a dining chair

Is there a well known store in GTA (Markham/Scarborough preferably) where I can shop for fabric to reupholster a dining chair? I am looking for something similar to canvas fabric or atleast something to change the fabric on the dining chair. I am not too familiar where to shop for it but your reply is appreciated.

Edit: I found FabricLand. Are there any others?

Possible to buy phone from major retailer in Canada without plan?

Hi!

This might be a stupid question, but I've just gotten back from France where you can purchase unlocked phones from virtually any electronics retailer (in other words, you can buy phones from virtually any electronics retailer that aren't tied to any particular provider). Obviously the good part about this is that there's competitive pricing. In Canada it seems to be the opposite. With the exception of amazon.ca, virtually every major electronics retailer appears to only offer phones that are tied to a plan with an incumbent cellphone carrier.

So I was wondering, would anyone happen to know of any large electronic retail stores (or chains) that sell unlocked phones that will work on Wind's network? Does anyone know of any small cellphone stores that sell unlocked phones in Toronto that will work on Wind's network?

Lastly, I've found what appears to be small cellphone stores posting ads for cellphones online in Kijiji and Craig's List. They appear to sell flagship phones from the major brands, in the box, for discounted prices, for cash, and without taxes. Has anyone ever bought from small stores such as these? Is it not a good idea to do so?

Thanks a lot!

Hi all,

I'm looking for a relatively small, affordable sound bar for my television, Xbox, Apple TV. Here is my wishlist:
- Under $300
- Includes subwoofer
- All-in-one configuration (i.e., I can plug Bell Fibe, Xbox and Apple TV AV and HDMI cables into it and have sound play from the sound bar for all those devices)
- Available in one of the big box stores, preferably (otherwise, shippable to Toronto)

Can anyone please suggest anything? Thanks!

I've had these for a few years now. If you're reading about this you should already know about it and the superior colour reproduction of the IPS panels that it uses. There are no dead pixels and it's in great physical condition. It comes with full packaging, even the original boxes!

These are priced to sell. I would prefer a buyer to buy both off my hands at the same time.

Selling price is $125 each. Pick up near Bathurst and Lakeshore.
