Want some input on Vegas/GC/LA 10 days trip during Xmas.
1, Plan to fly off buffalo, what garage is cheap/safe and close to Airport?
2, We are family with kid, 0 interest in gambling, what best family activity there? show? exhibit?
Vegas globe seems interesting but very expensive, 200+USD how to get ticket cheap?
Otherwise we think just 1 day in that city, walk around.
3, I think we need to 2 day+ to grand canyon get one night there, at winter should we just visit south rim, what about other Bryce np? antelope np?
4, then go to California through death valley np for 2 days.
question: how bad is the weather of Yosemite? I heard the roadway 120 is locked in winter, if Yosemite is not accessible in Xmas time, then what about the mountain range south of sequoia np? worth a visit in winter?
Sequoia np is at least 1 day detour from straight line of death valley np, to west coast.
SF ?
The south most cross to Sierra mountain range is 120 close to Yosemite? and only interstate is I80 all the way north to Lake Tahoe to cross the mountain to west. We probably don't want to go so north and touch SF city, unless lake Tahoe and the California 1 in winter really have the scenery justify 2 day detour.
5, California 1 partial, 1day
From Bakersfield, we either detour to sequoia np, which take a day, or go a bit further north to big sur. Nevertheless we want to drive on California 1, at least partial.
From big sur to Moro rock the road is right on the ocean, I assume it is most scenery.
6, LA, 1day
I think we just want to continue on C1 roadway, and touch sain Barbara beach and visit Hollywood, Griffin observatory.
No clue about what else there in LA, and certainly want to get away from traffic.
What other things LA could offer?
7, Palm spring 1 day
That little city interest me with checkboard design and the spring right come out of desert.
It is resortie/touristy for good or bad, but we will make a stop there.
8, want to pass through Joshua tree, Mojave desert and back to LV
How is the road condition? How is the desert ? really impressive or just so so.
where to get detailed road map to get through the two massive park and find those isolated points of interest?
I could skip them with I15 back vegas, or really take shortcut on back road through the parks, but want to know what are there, and what road condition is? the scenery? drone fly possible?
So we plan a little longer road trip, like 10 day to complete two loops (GC and Cali) with LV at center. The weather will be ok, if we stick to south end, I guess the most crucial question is to know the point of interest and balance time line between the two loop. Given the time of year, we want lean more weight to southern end points, unless you have other suggestions.Statistics: Posted by napoleonbot — Mar 25th, 2024 2:41 pm
