It's been my experience with electronics that if they are going to breakdown they usually do quite soon after bought and started to be used. I have always been of the opinion extended warranties are a money grab. For example on my TV 42" LCD they want like $400 for 5 years that just seems excessive to me.

Don't forget that many credit cards will extend the orginal warranty. For example, my Visa Gold doubles it, up to 1-year extension max. Also the orginal + Visa extension can't be > 5 years total. It also provides accidental damage coverage for the 1st 90-days (I wonder if that includes Wii damage?).
Here is a link for that Visa example:

Not me. I'm not going to buy a new TV in 5 years when I plunk down $2,000!
I'm planning to keep it as long as it will last - hopefully 15 years.
There will always be "better" models that come out after you buy electronics; you just need to be satisfied with what you have so you don't spend, spend, spend for no good reason._______________
