Eyesight getting worse drasticly - Permanent or short term?
Since I've been done exams, I thought I'd catch up on some video games. perhaps abit to much, since I've noticed my vision is getting worse. And by worse, I mean noticeably worse, mainly I cant see as far. Since it was much better last week, should I be worried? if I just lay off tv and computer for about a week or 2, should my vision go back to normal or am I doing permanent damage? Thanks

Are you sure it is not that Sony Monitor I sold you? That thing is pretty old, maybe it has started to fail...
Seriously, you should get an eye exam with an opthamologist. And I'm talking about a real exam where they examine the inside of your eyeball, your retina, etc. You never know what kind of eye disease you may have.
Also, giving your eyes a rest certainly will not hurt.
That said, I wear glasses and my vision has slowly been getting worse as I get older. But it's flattening out now. Maybe I will eventually be able to get Lasik!!

How bad is it? Having an acute vision change over a week is pretty fast...it can mean bad things.... Of course it'd be foolish to offer up a diagnosis over the net.
Call your family doctor to see if you can see him/her TOMORROW. If you have an optometrist, you might want to see him/her too...but call your family doc first.
Of course I could be over-reacting...but I think it's probably better to err on the side of caution.
Things to notice: any pain? Headache? Any tearing of the eyes? Double vision? Blurry vision? Dark spots? Vision significantly worse in one eye over the other? Worse in morning or evening?

I went to the optometrist 2 weeks ago, I have 20/15 vision in both eyes, so I guess I don't have much to complain about. I am sure most people don't have that. But I haven't been giving my eyes much rest, and its only been 3 days, so maybe its just my eyes are tired?

It has been pinging alot lately, little ping sounds with the lights flashing, maybe its time to move to lcd?
I've been noticing blurry at far sight, cant really make out the time on my hd pvr, and I'm sitting about 10 feet away, no headaches, no tearing, I just cant see as far/clear

Yes your eyes are tired. give them a rest. If you still have problems seeing after resting for 2 days go to www.webmd.com for more info and goodluck.

I think it's just short-term. Since you were just finished exams, you've probably been up for nights at a time reading and not getting enough sleep. Get tons of sleep for the next few days and your eyesight should get better. If not then consult a doctor/optometrist.

as someone who has been wearing glasses for over 14 years i can say that it's not normal that you notice a drastic change in the matter of a week. granted, your eyesight may seem bad if you've spent too much time on the computer/tv or w/e continuously but usually a good break away from those things will help you. go to your optometrist to get it checked out, especially if the problem isn't going away. i notice usually after a long day of studying (ie. reading notes, powerpoint slides, textbooks) my vision gets blurry but if i sleep and rest my eyes properly, it's all better again in the morning.
also, my optometrist recommended that every hour you spend in front of a computer/tv you should take a 15 minute break away from anything that will strain your eyes (reading etc).
then again i shouldn't be giving suggestions on how to improve eye sight. my eyes are absolutely terrible.
damn genetics.

In all seriousness, I find that LCD is MUCH better in terms of eye fatigue. I have dual LCDs now on my desk both at home and at work and they are so much better to work with from an ergonomics standpoint.
I recommend to anyone who spends a long time looking at a screen that they try an LCD for 2 weeks and then try to go back. There is no comparison. Just for your own long term health, I think it is a good investment.

You should call your optometrist, we are the primary care eye doctors. Ophthalmologists, first will need a referral and will take literally 1 minute talking to you, they are not primary care.
It depends what you mean by "drastic", but if I were you, I'd get it checked out ASAP. Don't self-diagnose yourself on webmed. These are your eyes. So many different things could be happening. I can think of a handful of things it could be, but don't want to scare you. Go get dilated tomorrow.

How old are you?
Ive had pretty crappy eye sight all my life but it went downhill at the age of 20-23. It really depends on how fast it went to "worse", did it take 1 week, or several weeks.
