F@0$$@@!! AMEX Screwups!
In the last 2 months American Express messed up twice on my transactions.
One suppose to be a return credit from a major retailer(cough BB cough) and it took them 8 weeks to credit it, although retailer issued refund within next day.
This morning I look-up to my online statement and notice that Dell double charges me for one item.
Is this my bad luck overall to experience these, or Am-ex is having problems lately? Am I the only one?

Never had a problem with them. They've always been good with chargebacks with me and interest charge reversals. I'd say the best service in all of the creditcards i hold.
Although I can't understand the accent of the rep sometimes cuz I gets routed over to their call center in India.

don't really have problem with them
but what i have discovered is thaty they will double charge me and then give me a credit back (all together)
so if i buy gas at shell
i will actually see
30.00
30.00
-30.00
for one transaction.......
don't know why, but never bothered to ask........since it never over charge me

Yeah, I got the double charge and then a credit on 2 items on my last bill also, but the monthly total came out correct. Never had a problem in 3 years otherwise.

Hey, now that you guys mention that, I do see a shell double charge and a single reverse charge in this month's bill also. I just initially figured maybe my easypay tag registered a double charge.

Feb 21st, 2005 06:21 PM #90 problems for me and getting all worthy cash rebates ($140+ from last year) on 1 card. And, 1.99% interest rate for the other one (better than my LOC).

Corporate card holder since 1989 - it's love and hate with them.
Never too many problems with double-charges - they show up once in a while, but one of the charges always shows as a credit on the same statement - not sure why.
They do suck when it comes to dropping the hammer on delinquent accounts. Almost in merciless manner. The interest on the charge is brutal - even though we've never missed payment and just dealt with payment arriving a day or two late because of Post. They do always reverse the charges.
On the Amex credit card we got - they suspended the account over a $40 balance that was just over 30 days. That to me is ridiculous - $40 is due today, but they suspend the account over missing the minimum payment of the $5 or whatever - that account was paid and closed by my request because of the BS.
One other time, I was paying for a business lunch and my card was declined - leaving me absolutely bewildered - I have never missed a payment on our Charge account. What had happened - they sent out a new card that was never received by me and because it wasn't received - it wasn't activated - so they cancelled all our cards - nice huh?
Other BS? The statements say they are due on the 26th of the month - eventhough my actual due date is the 2nd of the following month? why they do this. I do not know.
They are also one of those companies that have a customer service line that prompts you to enter your account number and when the CSR answers... what do they ask? your damn number all over again - what a waste of time.
My latest gripe which I have experience twice this month now is this one... I call to have them explain a charge, which they do and then they ask "do you have access to the internet?" "You can log into your account and view your statement online" which I respond... but I'm not calling to view my statement and viewing my statement isn't going to answer the question I ask you today.
Yes, the call centre sounds like it's in India (like Netgear) - which I have no problem with, but the reception is **** and there is always an audible delay in the conversation.
