I don't doubt there is some politics and greasing of hands involved.

Factor 5 Favours PS3 Over XBOX 360?
Here's an interesting article that I came across on 2 gaming websites:

FACTOR 5 FAVOURS PS3 OVER XBOX 360
Rogue Squadron developer plumps for PS3 due to Cell chip processing power
16:45 Developer Factor 5, responsible for games in the Rogue Squadron series and expected to support Microsoft's Xbox 360, has confirmed that it is now to create games exclusively for Sony's PlayStation 3
According to reports, Factor 5 has revealed that it has chosen to focus purely on PS3 because it found the next-gen console's 3.2Ghz Cell chip to offer superior processing power to that of the tech at the core of Xbox 360.
Factor 5 has already worked with Xbox 360, it's said, but the additional power at PS3's heart will give the developer the raw grunt to provide a better game experience and allow the studio to better simulate the real world, the studio stated.
The announcement from Factor 5 has surprised many, especially as it was one of the first companies to voice support for Microsoft's XNA development platform.

Factor 5 Drops Xbox 360 And Goes For PlayStation 3
A rather shocking news today. A story that was posted on C|Net, Julian Eggebrecht, president of Factor 5, confirmed that the company has switched development to the PlayStation 3 console and will not support the Xbox 360.
Eggebrecht said his company--which developed "Star Wars: Rogue Squadron" for Nintendo's GameCube--would create games exclusively for Sony's upcoming PlayStation 3.
More news on this developing story as it becomes available.

From a "Family" reviewer: "We Cheer teaches coordination, enticement to lust, women being used as sex objects, and team work."
From Worthy Playing: "We Cheer is, then, for all intents and purposes, the F-Zero GX of music games. It asks for so much, yet forgives so little. It is actually so casual that it's hardcore."

Sony approached Factor5 about making games for their console. No doubt whatever they are going to put out is going to look incredible. Won't shock me to see them become a Sony owned development house.
Silcon Knights makers of Eternal Darkness seems to have sided with Microsoft for the time being._______________

All they've made so far were some average Star Wars games. Rogue Squadron is a pretty fun series, but I don't know how this is big news.

There always is but after MS going for third parties that Sony and Nintendo had they were obviously going to strike back at some point. Not a huge gain but PS3 already has a lot of the key players in the game industry...

May 23rd, 2005 11:12 PM #9Has Silicon Knights ever made a game that looked great? You wanna attract the graphics whores early in the game and Sony is very good at that
