It says "Aug. 30: Chocolate lovers in South Korea discover worms in their candy. The chocolates were counterfeits of a popular international brand made in China."
So the Ferrero Rocher chocolates are make in China too? I guess it depends how you read the above.
Lots of health problems in some Chinese factories where inordinate cost cutting is involved.

What concerns me are consumables that say "Imported by" or "Distributed by", but give no indication where they were actually manufactured.
It's probably best to assume China, and avoid such products where possible.

While I do believe that most Chinese goods are cheap and even potentially dangerous, I do agree with you. For example, those into flashlights will know that it's the Chinese companies that are pushing the envelope in developing brighter and higher quality flashlights, and American companies like MagLite are being left in the dust due to their lack of innovation. This does come at a price though, because one of these Chinese AA flashlights will cost you $50+, but it still shows that Chinese companies are perfectly capable of producing quality goods if there is a market for them. Sadly, most of the time there isn't.
Really? That's seriously f-ed up. I already gotta watch out when buying fish, now I have to make sure I buy the right type of chicken?
It depends on where you buy them. There are some Italian made ones, but the ones I'm eating now are made in Canada.

Ya,
I am seeing that a lot more with foods at the grocery store.
A lot of the Christie/Kraft crackers- esp the rice ones are "imported".
If you look at the packaging for the rice crackers in a box they sell it just says "imported" on the package.
Also, not chocolate- but a lot of the Europe's Best fruit is from China
My sister buys the strawberries and when I looked in her freezer i always assumed that brand was US or Mexico...but the bag says "made in China"
I would rather have north american berries- with hopefully less pesticides.
I buy the Masterchoice fruit and the bag says product of USA.
now the fruit is much smaller than the Europe Best one, but still tasty.
I know they sell the "fake" rocher at Dollarama, the pc ones are made in Turkey last time I checked.
I thought Ferrero was Italian originally...but who knows where the Rocher is made thesedays.....
I also don't think i would trust dollarama for cheap candy.
the one beside my house actually had some "fake" toothpaste from South Africa this weekend
