The Armada is nice, but hard to find on the used market and its absolutely brutal on fuel economy so factor that into your budget, cause you'll be spending a lot at the pump.

Did anyone else give you a hard time about the car seats? Seems crazy that they wouldn't let you put the seats in there for a test drive.

Car Seats : For the most part no, I could see the sales guy squirm when we wanted to put the seats in the Enclave but as we had just returned with the Acadia and he had no issue then... He said that the space was the same as they were on the same platform and since we drove the Acadia we had an idea of the space. I mentioned that my last car was a Buick and I wanted to see if it was as quiet as my Allure and there was no argument after that. The Toyota and Honda dealerships actually loaded them into the vehicles for us and put them back into my Jeep when we were done AND they did a fantastic job of anchoring them properly. The Honda dealership went so far as to kneel into the seats and tighten the straps like the fire fighters show you to do, no concern about the vehicles, more concerned about our kids safety. I think that might be why there are 2 Honda's on the final list; that and the 9 speed transmission... If it is finding it's way into the Pilot, It could maybe find its way into the next model year Odyssey?

Armada - No kidding on the gas!! v8 with a 5 speed...saving grace is that gas is usually $1 / L on the reserve....

also beware of those big suv, like Armada ... big gas hog. Looks to consume like 18L+/100km on local roads.

Looks to be releasing early next year. I dont think it will work you though, since it seems to be a 5 seater. Better go with a minivan. You can get a lightly used one for less than $15k and it will be great for 7 people.

"The one thing that the 2017 Outlander PHEV gives up is the third-row seating capability of the other Outlander models. That’s because of the space required for the inverters and rear electric motor system."

The issues are software based so it's different for each vehicle if the vehicle has issues at all.

He doesn't want a van but I am with you.

I just got a Town and Country for our growing family. Standard dual powered sliding doors are a dream. We have a Rav4 and it was a huge pain to get the kids carriers in, especially when someone parked too close.

Not to mention the standard powered hatch and backup camera all for under $21k for a 2014.

Up to EX-L trim the Pilot comes with silky smooth 6speed. Problem free and really good on gas as well. The new Pilot beats all the other suvs in terms of fuel consumption. The only issue it is selling so good, that deals are non existent.

I'm also leaning toward this particular vehicle and with the current employee pricing, plus Costco member discount; the 2016 sport model can be had under $60k all in.
60k for a Ford ouch, last generation at that...

That is already in the mdx range already.

I know eh.
But at 60k,you can't even get half the feature and options the Explorer Sport model comes with; considering the base MDX starts at 55k.
The tech package appears to be close, but is 62k before taxes and fees.

I was going to recommend the same thing. Have had 2 of them in the last 5 years and love them both. Never a single problem other than your normal wear and tear. Fuel economy is impressive. Summer months 50/50 city/hwy i get easy 650kms. Winter 550kms. 100% hiway in the summer I can get 750kms. Avg full up between 70-74L.

Even with golden door handles and ivory steering wheel, person paying $60K for Explorer should be checked by specialist. And I bet that visit would result in taking away driver's license as a precaution...

I use to be ignorant like you (currently owner of an Acura and Lexus) until I went and test drove one.

Nothing ignorant in my post. The new Explorer drives really nice, I used to drive the 2013 model. The point is, with it's reliability and design flaws, it should not cost $60K. Way overpriced for what it is. Just go and check the $60k sport version, lift the back sests and look at the carpet cutouts for seats mounts. I could do better job with utility knife. They probably used the hack saw. Terrible fit and finish.
