I'm wondering whether or not purchasing my tickets online withoiut paying a whopping $20 for shipping and instead picking up my tickets on the day of the event makes a difference? Anyone have any experience with this? Seems like a big ripoff to pay $20 to have my tickets shipped to me.

Don't pay for the shipping and just printed them off at home. Me and my sister do this every year and saves a lot of time with the line-ups. Got my Jay and Silent Bob Get Old tickets printed and i think she has the other tickets done as well

I was told in the Fan Expo facebook page that the printed tickets aren't actually the tickets you use to get in. You need to give these at the box office (a different line from the one where you purchase tickets), and they'll give the tickets to you.
I've never been to Fan Expo before, so I don't know how legit that statement is.
I'm going on Thursday - any tips from Fan Expo vets? I'm not really looking for autographs or anything like that - just want to take in the experience and hopefully nab some cheap/free stuff._______________

Yeah you get in line to pick up your tickets and then get in line to get in. Similar process with the San Diego Comic Con... But the San Diego one has insanely long lines ups for everything. Also there aren't many freebies and exclusives for the FanExpo. However, you should be able to get some free comic books and small things like stickers, pins, maybe a face cutout on a stick. The part that sucks is the FanExpo doesn't attract the stars like SDCC nor do the big companies spend as much dough (some don't even bother coming) yet the FanExpo tickets are actually more expensive than SDCC.

I'm paying $28 to go on Thursday. Sure, it's a bit steep, but I'm going for the experience since I've never been to a comic/sci-fi/gaming/anime convention before.
What's up with everyone talking about how expensive it is? I get it if you're actually interested in going but the price drives you away, but Wonderland? That's like comparing apples to orange-coloured tennis balls..._______________

yeah its pretty shady for sure, and I'm not defending their practices at all. I think I read somewhere that Fanexpo is even more expensive than San Diego..
I just don't see the point of coming in here saying "I'd rather go to Wonderland" since the two are not even remotely close in content or experience... Not really too interested in the cosplayers unless there's some phenomenal ones.
For those going on Thursday, LG is also holding a mw3 tourney. I picked up my tickets today - hopefully the line to get in isn't too long..Last edited by Migger; Aug 21st, 2012 at 06:29 PM.
