My brother is looking to upgrade the video card in his SHuttle SN41G2 computer from the built-in video to the fastest AGP card that this computer can take.
Scouring the net the fastest I've seen mentioned is an ATI 9700 Pro.
This computer only has a 200W power supply so I'm not sure if anything faster can work.
The pricing and performance of the ATI X1600 Pro is interesting.
Any other owners of the Shuttles have suggestions?![]()
Thanks in advance![]()

Maybe look into purchasing this PSU, which will allow for much more upgrade options, if they really want to keep the shuttle:
http://www.enermax.com.tw/english/pr...y1.asp?PrID=36
They could put the 7800GS AGP in there if they had that.
What exactly do they have in the Shuttle right now, in terms of CPU/Memory/HD?
Otherwise, an X1600 Pro or 6600GT are probably the only ones that would work with that PSU.

Thanks for the info about the power supply from Enermax. I think he'd rather not spend more money on the PS but I'll mention it.
His current shuttle has:
Video: Stock built-in Nvidia
RAM: 2GB
HD: one 120GB
DVD-RW: one
PCI Winmodem

You missed the most important specification: the CPU. What is it, what generation, speed, socket, cache, etc?
Cuz that there is one of your main PSU users, so it's imperative that we know it._______________
Main: Intel 2600K @ 4.8GHz | Gigabyte P67A-UD7-B3 | 16GB Corsair DDR3-2000 | 2 x 240GB Corsair Force 3 in RAID1 | 2 x 4TB Hitachi 7K4000 | 3 x 2TB WD Caviar Black | 3WARE 9650SE | Antec 1200 | Seasonic XP-860 Platinum | 2GB GTX 670 | 2 x 27" Asus VE278Q | Auzentech Prelude | Win7 Pro 64-bit

It will take a nVidia GeForce 6800/7800GS OC, will take most AGP videocards, look for something that doesn't require a 500W PSU, check manufactor websites for system requirments, and the applicable power supply requirement.
Check the Shuttle website for what that Shuttle can support.

I believe some people are running 7800 with the stock shuttle power supply (250W / 300W models). They are suppose to be very efficient compared to 450/500 W power supply.
BUT, you need a fast CPU otherwise, there's no point of getting such a high end video card. Im guessing the CPU is AMD2500+ or sightly higher. I think the best optimal video card is 9800/9700 PRO or 6600GT / 6800GS. Anything higher would not get more fps._______________

tmpz: You're right, it's an AMD Athlon XP (Barton) 2500 running at stock speed.
Thanks for all the info guys. I think I'll try to stick an ATI 9700Pro in there, should give a good boost from the built-in Geforce 4MX
