Father's Day Koodo Deals (LG G4/G5 $150 MC, S8 $50 MC, etc)

Retailer:
Wow Mobile
Just perusing the Wow Mobile site, and it looks like they've got their Father's Day promo up. Sales start today. Here's the ones that caught my eye upon a quick perusal:

LG G5: $50 on Medium tab with $150 prepaid MasterCard
Samsung S8: $490 on Tab Large with $50 prepaid MasterCard (site shows two $50 prepaid MasterCard promos, but I think it's a glitch)
Samsung A5: $120 on Small Tab with $100 prepaid card plus additional $25 prepaid card (not sure if this is a website glitch or not? Because it says "additional", unlike the S8 page)
iPhone SE: $120 on Small Tab with $50 prepaid card (definitely not as good as the current Walmart deal which is $0 on medium tab with $200 Walmart gift card)
Samsung S7: $0 on Large Tab or $200 on Medium tab with $50 prepaid card
LG G4: $0 on Small Tab with $150 prepaid MasterCard

Remaining tab balances, for those of you not familiar with Koodo's Tab system (this is what you have to pay off once you cancel, the monthly tab amount gets added to your monthly bill, dropping the balance by that much):
Small Tab: $240 ($10/mo)
Medium Tab: $360 ($15/mo)
Large Tab: $504 ($21/mo)

Don't forget minimum $50 trade-in for your old beater phone (only applicable towards the up-front cost of the phone or accessories, so if it's a $0 up-front cost you can only apply that to accessories), and $25 Koodo referral credit. Note that you have to stay 90 days to keep bonus gifts (some report being able to keep them without getting clawed back with immediate cancellation, while others have reported having it added to their bill - very YMMV on this one). Most people are able to switch their account over to seasonal hold soon after signing up, as well, to drop the monthly plan price to $16.99 (I think?) per month.

IMO not the *hottest* prices (the S7/S8 is only worth going to Wow if you're planning on staying with Koodo, for example, since the $50 prepaid card is pretty much cancelled out by having to stay for 3 months), but there was a lot of talk of people waiting for the Father's Day sale in the previous Mother's Day sale thread, so I figured I'd post it up for reference. ALSO note that Wow also had bigger sign-up bonuses on Mother's Day proper, so they may do the same on Father's Day too.

Update: TheMobileShop is also offering 100,000 PC points ($100 value) for *all* Telus/Koodo devices:

What phone would you pick between the G5 and S7? I know the S7 costs more, but it is justified? Not going to stay with koodo, and have a beater phone to trade in.

If I had the money to spend $504 on the S7, I might still be tempted to stick with the S7 (the S7 is a VERY good phone). But in that case, no point going to Wow if you're not staying with Koodo, so you're better off just getting it directly from Koodo (also: the S7 Edge is currently $100 up front on Tab Large from Koodo, coming to a total of $604 - that's a great deal too). But if you're looking to upgrade an old phone on the cheap, the G5 is an EXCELLENT value (probably the best value available right now for a last-year's-flagship model). Hard to say if the S7 is really $200+ better or not, to be honest. The S7 is IP68 waterproof and has wireless charging, but it's also a bit smaller, screen-wise. It's a toss-up, really.

Haven't seen a thread posted yet - somebody posted about it in the old G5/SE thread here. Quote:

walmart now has a deal. 0$ UPFRONT + 200 wm GIFT CARD + 50 REFERRAL.

TAB 360

COST OF PHONE $110.
(snark removed). Just a note that they forgot that referrals are back down to $25 now, and they also didn't include the cost of sticking with Koodo for 3 months to keep the gift card. Still, with only a $50 prepaid card from Wow it still works out better getting from Walmart.

I checked Walmart a couple of days ago and can confirm they did not have any deals on the SE.

The one I linked was just posted last night, so chances are that if it's not YMMV, it's brand new.

this has probably been covered a million times before, but not sure what the conclusion was..

if you are on MB plan can you upgrade to one of these on medium tab and keep the plan? or will Wow or Mobile Shop not do it?

Wow, I got the g5 on a better deal last year. How much is it worth now? I would have expected the g6 to have a similar deal by now

What does the extra 100K PC points mean? On their website, the LG G4 shows 200K bonus points already
So if you sign up for the G4, you'll get 200k for the activation plus another extra 100k PC points for signing up with Telus or Koodo promo.
