Feathered Tire Questions

I have a few questions about feathered tires for you guys.

1. When one or more tires are feathered, how does that affect how the car drives/steering? What about road noise?
2. Does it matter if one tire is feathered a lot more than the others?
3. If one tire is feathered, is it better to have it on the back or the front, all other things being equal? What if two are significantly feathered?
4. Would one or more feathered tires hasten your decision to replace them?
5. How can one avoid new tires becoming feathered in the future?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you done a wheel alignment recently?

Feathered tire is an indication of incorrect alignment. Either an adjustment is needed or some suspension parts are worn or even bent

1. Makes it worse, increases road noise.
...
5. Make sure the car doesn't need an alignment.

If someone reading this has answers to questions 2-4, I would appreciate it if you would share them. Thanks!
