Feedback on my Demo Reel...
So I just finished an 8 month course at Seneca in visual effects and compositing. I really got into motion graphics and am hoping to get a job in that area. So I'm posting a work in progress of my demo reel. Looking for feedback and comments.
It's a 3.5mb QuickTime - Link
Thanks.
Okay, here's a link to download both QuickTimes as a 5mb zip file from YouSendIt.com

Well it more so a showcase of design work more so then trying to tell a story. Some of the stuff, like the E2 logo are fro ma network design project. The TSN stuff was from a commercial design assignment, there some movie title work in there, a mock Apple ad (with the pigs). Just a bunch of stuff.
As for programs used. At school we focused on Combustion for doing comps, although in the upcoming year the new students will learn Digital Fusion. For my work, I used Photoshop, Illustrator, Combustion, Maya, and my favorite app, After Effects.

Here's a visual effects shot that was part of a group project I worked on. It's a shot of a monster attacking a person. Now the creature modelling, texturing and creature animation was done by students in the 3D Maya program, it was sort of a cross over project. Everything else was done by our group. There were two other people in my group, who focused on dealing with having the creature appear both in front and behind our live action actor. Also, the gore on the person in our shot was done by a fellow group memeber, along with the saliva/blood coming out of the monster's mouth.
What I worked on was the 3D set, basically everything otehr then the creature or the live action actor was 3D. I modelled, textured and hardest of all did the lighting for the set, along with lighting the creature. That was probably the hardest part, getting the lighting right. I also pulled the key, along with adding the finishing details like the blood pool and the 2D smoke.
You can check it out the 1.5mb QuickTime here

I'm suing stupid Yahoo Briefcase. I still have to setup a personal web site. I'm going to see if I can find an alternative file hosting site for now, maybe Rapidshare or YouSendIt.
