[Fido] 10gb for $56 through FIDO retention

Recently got a deal 10gb for $56 before taxes through FIDO retention. It's for 1 year to expire Dec 31 2019..I'm in AB and this almost matches the QC deal

Got offered this deal in Ontario this afternoon. $56+tax for 10GB, unlimited calling in Canada, unlimited international text, and 5 free hours of data.
$80 per month with a $300 credit for a phone on a tab.

I cancelled my Fido account and went to Koodo. This must be part of a winback campaign.

Still a good deal. It is better than a lot of the current plans right now. We can always deal with it in December! :)

You go hunting again. The cycle never ends. Might score a good deal by Christmas.

Let me rephrase. What is the pricing in a year?

Another $5 increase, this past holiday they were advertising 10gb for $65. ($60 previous year)
Assume it might go up to $70 for the same plan.

Why are you assuming a $5 increase? The OP has given us no indication either way, which is why I asked the question.

If it was just a $5 increase, I'd be all over this. My wife and I will be paying $65 in Ontario for 13 GB (10 GB + 3 GB bonus for one year), but we don't really need the extra 3 GB, so $56 for 10 GB going up to $61 next year would be a killer deal for me and my wife.

I received a similar offer to the OP (mentioned in the larger winback thread) but my discount of 20% off is for 2 years. If they end up telling me it's only 12 months I will be raising quite a stink with Fido. Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes

It seems like a lot of the deals have 1 and 2 year options. My 3 GB bonus is for 1 year, but I note that some people got it for 2 years.

So it sounds like your deal is $70 - 20% for a price of $56 for two years. Maybe the OP has a similar $70 - 20% deal but just for the one year, and if I were offered the same thing, I probably wouldn't switch from my existing $60/65 10 GB plan with 3 GB bonus.

$70 x 12 months + $56 x 12 months = $63 per month averaged over 2 years.

I think the price increase with those of us with the $60 plan is in March, so it would be $60 x 2 months + $65 x 22 months, which works out to an average of $64.58 over two years, but with 13 GB in my case in one of those two years.

Your $56 plan for two years is great though. Is it possible to get it through retentions without having to resort to cancellation and winback?

a plan that I got with rogers, for gov employee:
12gb data + canada-wide calls
for 44.80$/month BYOD

this price stays for life and doesn't change after 2 years. less headaches.
