where does it say unlimited canada wide? canada wide long distance still uses your minutes, just doesn't charge you another rate to do so.

It's an ok plan but I wonder if it qualifies for the same phone subsidy that the $50/$60 plans do. I remember previously Fido required plans to have a monthly service fee of $40 and up to get a full subsidy, and now they release a plan just $1 short of that....

The 'unlimited canada wide calling' still uses up your airtime minutes if you make the calls between 7 am and 6 pm. So in effect you have 450 minutes of calls each month between 7 am and 6 pm to any number in canada. After 6 pm (and on weekends) you have 'unlimited' calls to anywhere in canada.

Damn, they keep making this entry level 'smart plan' better. Just last month I switched my AIO plan from Sept 2012 to the $40 smart plan, now it's a dollar cheaper and you get an additional 150 minutes.

It just means you are never charged for Canada long distance and never charged for roaming.

If you call with daytime minutes, you still use up your 450 minutes. If you call after 6 pm or on weekends, you can call unlimited long distance in Canada.

Don't quote me on this, but AFAIK, any Smart Plan should qualify for a full subsidy on a 2-year plan (although that would exclude the iPhone).

You might be able to switch over to the new plan, even if you're on a contract.

That's how they calculate it?
I thought it was really unlimited for Canada to another Canada LD number... Only local calls would use your minutes...

This is the exact same plan offered to me from retentions last week (for 40$).

In terms of being a good plan, the only thing it's missing is unlimited incoming.

400mb data? That doesn't sound great to me that will be prime for overages

The Virgin $45 plan is way better:
+evenings @5PM
+incoming
+VM10
+1GB Data
+BYOD 10% discount
-50 less minutes
-$5 more/month

Also if you don't go with BYOD, Virgin puts 10% of your bill on your tab, whereas Fido only does 4%

It's decent for lots of people who are looking at entry level plans with data. These plans usually include 200-250 MB data.

My wife for example is currently on a 250 MB plan, which is OK for her, but 400 MB would leave a much bigger cushion.

Yes, Virgin puts 10% of you bill ($4.50/month) towards your tab, but the tab doesn't disappear after 22/24 months as it does on fido. You end up paying the full price of the phone - (# of months active * 10%)

Is it possible to switch to these plans if I'm 1.5 years into a 3 year contract?

I make more than what 95% of people in this site makes.
Try a six-figure salary that starts with a "3" (that would be annually)

Seriously- I TRIED to ignore him. KKF is like herpes, you keep scratching in an attempt to get temporary relief, but two weeks later he comes raging back more annoying and infuriating as ever.
