You're exactly right about how it depends on the person we're dealing with. I went to the Mobile Shop to see if they could give me 3G for $15 but they suggested a better Freedom Mobile tablet plan, 4G for $15. No free tablet but instead of $35 activation fee I only paid $10 for the FM sim. I don' t need another tablet anyway so I bought the plan for the boy.will888 wrote: ↑Feb 11th, 2019 3:39 pm@althetrainer , I have never ever had a Fido cellular plan. I certainly do not qualify for any tablet plan if the rules were hard coded into the computer system. It is totally up to the person on the computer to give out the plan or not. I have had good success with non Fido stores. The long thread includes reports that some Fido stores will bend the rules as well. As for getting a tablet or not, that is a personal decision. I see it this way, the tablet is free provided I stay for 24 months. Since they are discounting the data for 24 months, there is no reason for me to leave early. If you intend to stay 24 months or much of it, get a tablet and sell it to help pay for the plan.
Came home and called Fido to unlock the old tablet, they asked why and I told them about the FM tablet plan. The guy said he could upgrade my current tablet plan (2G for $7.50) to 4G for $7.50 for being a good customer. I thought more data for the same price why not. The rep made the change and told me the new data would kick in on March 3 and that I wouldn't have to do anything about it. He then asked if I wanted a second line but suddenly we got cut off. I was not sure what was going on, I called Fido again. Big mistake. This time I got a different guy. Not only he said the first guy didn't upgrade my plan but that I was not qualified for such upgrade. At this point, I was told my current plan got changed from $7.50/month to $15/month. After half an hour of going back and forth, he said he would change it back to $7.50/month and the change would be confirmed by an email from Fido. A couple of minutes after, a Fido email came in showing these changes :
Online plan change data bonus (Removed as of 2019-Feb-04)
Loyalty Offer- 50% Rebate Data (Removed as of 2019-Mar-03)
Tablet Promotion (Removed as of 2019-Mar-03)
Mobile Internet Flex Rate Plan (Removed as of 2019-Mar-03)
It looks like the first guy did the upgrades but the second guy removed them. A second email came in showing my plan is now $15/month. I have no idea what's going on. I may move over to Freedom Mobile by the end of this billing cycle. Dealing with Fido is too exhausting.
