For non-customers, is there still a way to get on this with reasonable chance of success (e.g. BestBuy, or other place)?

Best Buy Mobile stores seems to be most willing to work with new customers. You could also try Costco and other independent stores/kiosks. Those guys all work on commission so they're more likely to ignore/bend the rules.

Worst case you could consider getting a voice plan in order to qualify for the data plan, then return the voice plan package unopened/unused within the 14 return period. Read the fine print carefully so you can abide by the terms to qualify for the return. In any case that will likely still cost you the $15 activation fee.

I hate to be "that guy", but the post *directly above yours* might be a good place to look.

Anyone know when would Fido have the $15 3GB plan back?
Nobody even knows if they're going to bring it back, nevermind when.

i have 2 accounts without contract on the $15 3gb plan
used the chat to request the loyalty retention 50% off and got declined
called in for the other line and also asked for it and she said she would have to open a ticket w the back end team as it showed as i did not qualify

1st one was on a contract which has been paid off months ago
2nd never got free hardware
both have more than 6 months activity
they said the minimum plan i can get 50% off is the $22 for 100mb (hahaha)
however he did offer me a free gpad 3 upon 2yr renewal (which is on now at $99)

Like another user I also got an offer from fido to get the tablet and 3gb of data for 15$ per month available by phone only. So noone here had any problems taking the sim registered for the tablet and putting it in their phone? I have an LG g3 if that matters at all.

There has never been any restrictions on how you use the SIM. Go for it.

Does the mean the loyalty discount thing has run its course? Hope not, still have a couple more months to wait to reach 6 months.

No. Two Chat denials most likely just means Fido's agents are as uniformed as usual. It would take at least 10 denials before it's time to abandon hope.

Even in the same store, different reps will do it differently. It is best to call them before you go. If someone is willing to do it, just remember the name and find that rep. I think many people had luck at BB Scarborough town center.
