100mbps with Virgin, 50mbps with Fido in the sq1 mississauga area. 5G is not needed with these available speeds, since 5G has weaker coverage it's going to cost more.
What is your source that 5G is weaker coverage? 5G is needed to address the ever increasing data usage for future applications like self driving vehicles.

Sorry, I thought 5G will be using only the higher frequencies but can use the existing lower ones right now.

Fido $15/3GB + voip.ms $1/M + 3cx PBX voip push client $0 + Google Server vps $0 = $16/Month voip solution with no battery drain.

Likely 5G will use higher frequency, but existing frequencies can be repurposed. Why do we still need 2G?

Commercial deployment. From those credit card terminal to equipment are not capable of the newer standards unless the company chooses to upgrade or the telecoms find it unprofitable.

Just ask, there's no fighting.
Thanks! - Any other info? Specifically what the loyalty deal is and how long do you have to be a customer for in order to qualify?

Please put a note for tablet in the title. I'm very excited every time when I see it. :):)

thanks anyways.
Which tablet ? Fido's data only plan is not restricted to tablet usage.

Is there any other advantage of porting current mobile number to Fongo apart from just keeping the number? Is it possible to use simultaneously Fongo and ported number withing the same app to receive calls? Any other drawback like
it is not possible to text short codes, or receive short code SMS source

That's the whole point. Port the number you now have (and presumably like) over to Fongo. This is the number people will call you on and text you on. Subscribe to Fongo's text plan if you use texting (or get a TextNow account and use it to do free texting.) Leave Fido's assigned number as is. Use it only to receive short codes, for which there's no extra charge.

I would like to mention.

For those who are with Fido who plan on getting this deal don't forget to refer yourself as this would qualify as a new line.

Free texts in that case will be from my old number or fongo number? My question was about simultaneous use, will I get 2 numbers to use at the same time in the stand by mode?

Your choice:
• Free incoming texts via Fido's assigned number.
• Free incoming texts via Fongo's number (which you may have ported in.)
• Free incoming and outgoing texts via TextNow's assigned number.

Note that only the first uses a SIM card. The other two use WiFi or data over Fido. Potentially all three numbers can coexist on a single SIM. (I also have Google Voice so that there are four numbers that can receive incoming texts, all of which are always active.)
