[Fido] Fido $55 2GB Plan w/ 1000 International Minutes to select countries [ON]

So, this is a plan offered on their website. It has been offered for a while now, but there is a new kick to it for people who make international calls.
The plan now comes with +1000 long distance minutes to; India, Germany, China, Bangladesh, UK, Italy, Mexico, Autralia, Taiwan & Hong Kong.

This plan is decent for individuals who don't use a whopping amount of data but also make international calls.

Please specify which province you refer to. At least in BC 2gb plan is $60 with 1000mins or $65 with unlimited mins. But I do see the 1000 international mins are included in every plan as part of the promotion.

It looks like 2gb pulse plan w/ unlimited minutes is $55 in BC, and 2gb normal plan w/ 500 minutes is $50. Are you seeing something different when you set province to BC?

For Ontario, looks like it is just the $55 2gb that comes with the international minutes, in BC it is 55,65,75, but 65 is same as 55

BC
This $55 promo plan is also available in BC until Oct. 25, 2016 :)
A perfect plan for my dad (I'm gonna let him know)

The other huge benefit for global travelers is that because it's a Fido Pulse plan, it has the $10/day international roaming ability capping out at $100 per billing cycle.

That is what I see on the mobile site. I notice they have double data promotion on the front page as well as in your screenshot, but once I clicked it only shows the 1000 international mins.

Edit: I used my desktop now so I can see the deal. Maybe they haven't update the mobile site yet?

don't understand why would you care about international calling when you have more data. skype is as low as 1c/min. or 12 bucks a month for unlimited. and with skype to go you can use a pay phone at the airport to do call around the world. The retention is still offering $50 for 3g/unlimited + international text msg.

Just be aware that data overages are $5 per 100 MB. Ouch. Fido is really gouging people on the data overages these days. My $56 2 GB plan (with extra 2 GB bonus right now) is $10 per extra 1 GB.

BTW, if your long distance is only to the US, there is also Public mobile which has a $48/month plan for unlimited calling to US and Canada, unlimited international text, and 2 GB data per month. The drawback is it has to be bought pre-paid in 90 day increments so it's actually $144 for 90 days with 6 GB data (but OTOH the good thing if you only use 1 GB the first month for example, then you have 5 GB left for the next two months). And data top ups are available at $10 per 200 MB or $30 per 1 GB, but any unused part of the top up rolls over if unused. In addition, they have a package of 400 minutes of international long distance for $15, that also rolls over.

Alternatively at Public Mobile you could get the $43/month unlimited Canada plan with 400 of international long distance for an extra $15 if you're a light user of long distance. For me that 400 minutes could last two years.

Some people just used to call internationally like a local call. It is complicated for them to use other apps to achieve this function.

That retention deal has been going on for a while. It comes and goes. There should still be a thread about it.

Reading Fido page. All the sudden I have a question
"Offer ends October 25th. Bonus: 1000 long distance minutes to India, Germany, China, Bangladesh, UK, Italy, Mexico, Autralia, Taiwan & Hong Kong."

Do you get monthly 1000mins? or 1 time 1000mins?

Thanks.
