[Fido] Fido home internet’ 75mb/10mb for $32.50 for 12 months. Ontario Only

Ran across this deal today. 75mb/10mb service from Fido home internet. The promotional price is $32.50 for 12 months. Modem rental is included in price, and installation is DIY, so $0 for installation.

Updated: First 3 months are not free if you take the 50%off promotion.

Read the fingerprints:

"All-in-one affordable price
Our advertised pricing includes powerful Wi-Fi modem rental so you don’t have to find and buy another device for Wi-Fi--with TekSavvy the modem and activation charges can add up to $219.90 in upfront costs and requires technician install."

Translation:

"Please help us kill off the little guys so we can gouge you more later."

I'm already with Fido. I wonder if they will let me switch to this $75 plan and get the promos too. Or at least some sort of discount. Will try tomorrow and report back.

Do you have to agree to stay on after 12 months?

Is it DSL or cable? I don't see that detail in the images or link.

Do you know if there any cancellation fees if someone is not happy with the service and transfer the services in less than a year?

The discount is good for 12 months. It's up to you what you do afterwards. To the best of my knowledge, it uses the same lines as Rogers home internet, which hopefully means if there is ever any disruption in service, it'll have the same priority in repairs service as Rogers customers.

Virgin (fiber) internet might be the better option, it's 50mbps but no drops in speed during peek hours. This Fido (cable) deal is good too, but they tend to have speed drops during peek hours.

Lots of usage
Fido Internet 75 comes with both speed for smooth streaming plus your choice of 200GB (about 65 HD movies)4, or Unlimited usage for freedom and peace of mind against overage fees.
Anyone know the unlimited usage fees

I took this deal roughly two years ago. Your rates will almost double after 12 months. It's a GREAT deal overall, considering modem is included in the price, if you want to swing from one company to the next. Me? I cancelled my Fido and am with Cannet now for 3 months. 75/10 for $30/month permanent price. Zero issues so far and I don't swing from one ROBELLUS to another anymore.

Didn't have that experience in my area.

You can cancel anytime and it's always cable with Fido as they are on Rogers. Roger is playing the medium range game here and betting enough people cancel with smaller companies, come over and be too lazy to switch back, or by the time that they do those comps will be killed off. There's no other reason to explain such a killer medium term deal. IMO consumers who have abandoned ROBELLUS need to play the long game and see the big picture to avoid traps like this. Our alternative ISP market is still in incubation mode and it's future is still uncertain. The reason ROBELLUS even makes a deal like this is because there's chinks in their armor.

Works on mobile, not on desktop. I'm going to call in and chat as well. We'll see what they will give to current subscribers.

For 12 months it comes to 27.54 a month for 1year tx included. Deal ends April 30th.

Carrytel deal for rfders is 30 first month then 35 per month comes to 39.08 for
1 year tx included.

My 2 year 1Gig , vip promo with rogers is up June 6th and Fido seems to be the better deal right now.

Does it have to be activated by promo end date or just ordered?
