Ported to Freedom yesterday. Got the winback call today. Asked for the iPhone XS in 256 GB— they offered 8GB plan for $67.50 a month and $462.08 upfront for the phone.

Hi, I know this is not a winback offer but I just wanna share my experience with retention today. I'm currently on a BYOD loyalty plan 44$ 6gb, my fido account currently has the XXL 80$ 8gb among other offers, like the byod 10gb for 51$. I'm in Quebec and I've been with fido for 14 years.

I used my telus corporate plan offers from my employer as leverage to negotiate, telus offers 10gb for 80$ on the iphone x 64gb, but also some cheaper plans for other phones such as the huawei p20 pro for 0$ on a 55$ 7gb plan, or 62$ 8gb for iphone 8 64gb/pixel 3 64gb, with 200$ credit on the bill. So long story short, I told the rep I can get the iphone x for 0$ on a 62$ 8gb plan and hope he can match it.

The rep told me that he couldn't give me winback offers, and that this is not the best time of the year to upgrade for a new phone since the best deals were given on black friday and boxing day. But he did mention that they might have some specials for valentine's day.

I needed to upgrade my phone since my iphone 6 plus is dying. So here's what he offered:

66$ 6gb for 24 months (the rep said it is actually the xxl 89$ plan with 25% discount)
2gb additional for 2 months (yes I tried to bargain for a better deal but didn't work)
75$ bill credit, no hardware upgrade fee
iphone x 64 gb or huawei mate 20 pro for 0$

I know many people have better deals or I should have called back and negotiate again. But like I said my phone is dying and I'm not really good at negotiating lol so I took the offer and got the huawei mate 20 pro.

Hope it helps, feel free to comment :)

Did anyone find that the winback offers do not actually waive the taxes on the activation fees?

Seems like the deals now are double the price for the phone compared to what they were offering winback during boxing week last year.

What does that $462.08 include? taxes? Before or after $500 credit?

I received the winback offer after porting from Fido to Bell.

Fido WInback called me 3 business days after I ported
I got a deal that no one has posted about here so make sure to inquire if you are able to get in touch with their team

$40 -5gb of data, Huawei P20 Pro for no cost. 2 year term

I also have a second line that was brand new that I ported to Bell, no call from Fido so far. It has been about 5 days. I have not called to leave a voice mail

Please message me if you have any questions

Weird. For postpaid customers that ported out, I don’t think it usually takes more than a few days usually.

Guess you could try a second go at it. Open a new Fido line, port to freedom after a few days and then call winback for that number. After the dust settles, port your current number back in, assuming you’re on the list this time.

I've been contacted by Fido Winback twice and what they've offered is nowhere near the promotions back in BD or New Year deals. Told them about the previous deals and was told they are over.

I wouldn't. Bell signal is way better plus that 60/10 is for life.
Only saving 4 bucks with fido. Their signal isnt the best.

The Bell plan is going up $5/month as of March or April so the difference becomes $9/month... At least in the near future. But having switched back to Fido from Bell I agree that the Sonal on Bell is much better... I would consider going back to Bell knowing what I know now about the signal Unamused Face
