Add ons and value packs don't count. (Base plan + data - plan credits) >=$50. Credits against plan and value packs are considered plan credits, so all your credits would be counted in the calculation and put you below $50. That's why I suggested seeing if they could make $10 of your credits in data credit when u add data, as I don't think data credits count in the calculation.

Good point, I have to check that with Fido...I'll be eligible to upgrade in couple of months so I'll ask them...I didn't really get into HUP because I am not eligible yet...I have the old iphone right now (without data), and the CSR said she'll be able to give me $10 flex data right now, or down the road if I decide to get the iphone 4 when I am eligible...with data my plan will be 55+tax so I am guessing I'll be eligible. $50 voice plan + $10 value pack + 10 flex data - $15 credits = $55

I have a general question about fido number:
My brother and I both have Fido contracts under our respective names. Now, he wants to use the plan I have, while I want to use the plan he has. However, we want to keep our own phone numbers. Is there a way to swap phone numbers if both parties are willing to on different plans?
o I didn't know that...I'll check with them when I am upgrading my phone

From my understanding of the new rules, and your statements above...
1) yes
2) yes
3) no. The following two plans require a mandatory data contract: the $30 VP (with 500MB data), and the $30 6GB plan. To qualify for a data contract, yes the voice plan must be >= $25. The Flex data plan does not require a data contract; however, if you wanted the Flex data on contract, then yes you would have to have a base plan >=$25 (to qualify for an iphone on HUP with the flex data, then you'd need a voice plan >=$40)
I believe your plan is good. Take a voice and data plan that would qualify for the HUP, then later change the voice and data plans to something more suitable to your needs; after changing your plans you'd have to pay the DECF of $200 plus tax. Doing things this way, you'd be able to use your Fido$ towards the HUP, and still end up with partial subsidy on the iphone. By paying the DECF, you've canceled your data contract and thus would qualify for the Flex data on a smaller base plan. Bear in mind, I don't think Fido will be very sympathetic to any requests for credits once you change to a cheaper plan.
See if they'll throw in SOME long distance. Wind and Mobi's $40 plans include unlimited LD for Can+US. Pretty sure Fido won't give you unlimited LD at that price, but they might give you some (possibly 1000min.Cdn LD, but more likely 35 min Can/US LD)
you only have a $7 credit for CID; in theory, you should be able to get a couple of add-ons features fully (or partially) credited (LD just being one thought). What else could you use? I'm not sure they'll give a data credit without a data agreement/renewal.
read the tutorials on negotiating linked in my signature for ideas on how you might sweeten that offerLast edited by thirstyears; Dec 16th, 2010 at 10:25 PM.

Hey, I got my Iphone4 today, there's something I don't understand in my bill. I'll call Fido tomorrow if nobody can help me.
The following statement is the one showing in my account (copy/pasted):
100 Minutes + Unlimited Evenings and Weekend + Unlimited text messaging
New plan
200 minutes + 1000 Evening and Weekend + Unlimited Incoming Calls + Call Display + Expanded Network
Effective on 01/04/2011
Does it mean that I won't have the new plan until April (when my contract expires)? (What is an Iphone without data xD)
Also, the new plan have unlimited text which I don't see there. Is it because of space it didn't show or the guy lied to me and didn't include it? and is flex data expanded network?
Thanks.
Edit: Omg page 1001. Unbelievable xD. Funny that it is almost exactly 4-years since the creation of the topic.Last edited by Gero43; Dec 16th, 2010 at 11:36 PM.

what you're seeing on the website is your voice plan. data and unl text would be for option and that wouln't be showing right away,
the expanded network is included in every plan w/o the saf.
I would call just to be safe, if something's wrong you might get transferred to me :P_______________

Hi folks, just a quick question. I would like to port my fiance's number to my account, but I was hoping to get a deal for him as well. Unfortunately, the fido rep tells me that 'deals' are only for long term clients, and so even if he was to port his number to my account (been with fido for 8+ yrs), I still could not negoiate a plan for him. Is this true? Or should I call their bluff and try to call again and see?
Thanks!

I'm on my 3rd billing now with my negotiated plan and Fido found a way to screw things up *yet again*. They were missing credits on my bill. I called them 2 days ago and they promised to fix it.
I checked the morning after on my Iphone if it's been fixed and it looks like it was, but now I'm checking my bill online and they still haven't fixed it
w.t.f...cmon Fido.
I don't even know what to advise anyone anymore. After I negotiated my plan I called in to double check with them and I was assured "yes, you're paying $XX flat" but retentions and the regular CS reps don't seem to have the same systems.

Fido Retentions
This was my original plan I had with Fido:
$25- 100 daytime minutes, evenings from 7pm and weekends free, unlimited text
$15- unlimited personal email and IM for BB plus 50 mb of data
$10 value pack- Caller ID/voice mail
Credit: $10
Total: $40 before taxes
I noticed on the site that now Fido offered evenings from 6 pm so I decided to give them a call and renegotiated my plan
I now have :200 daytime minutes, evenings from 5pm and weekends free, free fido to fido, 2500 texts,
$15 email and IM for BB with 50 mb of data
$10 value pack for free: caller id/voice mail
Total :$37 before taxes
I am going to see if I can negotiate trading free fido to fido for 1000 long distance minutes as I do tend to travel a lot in Ontario. Any advice?

Just finished talking to one of Fido customer service representative.
My plan is the $17.50 (employee plan) + $10 value pack
200 daytime
U/L after 5pm + Weekends
2500 text
VM
Caller Id
+ tax = $31.08 /month
I started politely saying I really like my plan with Fido because it is really competitive to other carriers.
Then I mentioned I found out that Mobilicity has the $25 Unlimited Plan for text/call/caller id which seems better.
I said I don't use my VM at all so Mobilicity is a bit more attracting than my plan.
I asked if there is any offer to make my current plan more competitive than Mobilicity (maybe squeeze in anything unlimited like F2F / F2R for my plan)
The rep replied any unlimited add-on will increase my payment but I wanted to keep my payment same. Nothing else he said he could do.
In the end, without changing my payment he gave me this.
100 daytime minutes for the next 6-month
35 LD minutes for the next 1 year
I thanked him and ended the call.
Do you guys think I should or should not be satisfied?
