Love the info in here, thanks everyone! Inspired me to call about my $20: 100day/1000eve+we that comes up in May/08, mentioned the Telus insider deal $17.30 (it is right on their website now). I got the following deal MONTH to MONTH because I said I was worried about renewing because I am getting a treo at my new job in May and was worried that it wouldn't work and I'd be locked in for 3 years:
200 day
unlimited eve/weekend
CID + VM
1000 F2F (useless because all my friends are rogers or telus - he can't swap/remove it for anything - I asked!)
$16 +SAF+911+tax
(it is a plan he was looking at with a $5 discount (likely because of no phone or because I mentioned the last agent didn't call me back) and the $11 vm/cid with a $10 discount). best part is no contract!

This is the best deal. You get unlimited network calling. The only down side is the Fido network is not as good as Rogers. (Even though they are the same company now)

With the expanded network option, its the same as Rogers. As long as you do not travel out of the major cities, Fido is fine.

Receive my Samsung A736, not too much of a Samsung fan..so i called them and ask for an exchange, the rep are Excellent according to manner and prompt service, they walk me thru the price and shipping in exchanging the phone, no hassle, very pleasant and sounds that they really need your business, so pay them an extra $ 156 taxes included for this upgrade to Razr2 and they let me use my $ 50 fido dollars...so total is $ 106...
Lets Go Fido !!!!!!

I've the same question: how could you get the month to month plan for so cheap (like $16) with a free cell? Rogers retention keeps telling me that there's so such plan under $20

2 year agreement offered by retentions
Hello Everyone,
I just called retentions and got the following offer but I haven't taken it yet.
200 weekday minutes
unlimited evenings/weekends starting at 7pm
unlimited fido to fido and fido to rogers
unlimited text messaging within canada
call display
$32.45 per month = 25 + 911 + SAF
$75 for the Samsung A736
The above is a 2 year agreement.
The retentions person said the Samsung phone isn't that good. Any idea what I should get as a recommendation? I don't want the RZR2 or any motorola phone really.
Can someone tell me what they think about the above plan?

Before I went on a previous retention plan, I was on month to month for around 2 years or so. In such a case, I think the best thing to use in your favour is that you had stayed with Fido for 2 years on month to month and hadn't left. Playing loyal. And just say that you would like to continue with them as long as they are able to keep with the competition from other vendors or carriers. That is what I did. Though this offer is much better than what I got 2 years before.
Thanks for the tip for the Nokia 6300. I think I am going to go with that too.

Got Retention plan after day of signing 3 year contract
Ok guys, so here how it all starts,
I was looking into signing either rogers or fido's $20 plan....after all discussions I decided FIDO is better for us with unltd incoming/ per sec billing
So we get the 3 year plan $20, got free nokia 6300, bluetooth, car charger, 1GB Micro SD, case etc. etc.
I was told I have 15 days to cancel all service w/o penalty.
So next day (new years eve), i call and go directly to retention saying I'd like to cancel under my 15 trial, lady asks why? I say simply TELUS is offering way better deal with VM/CID included around $25 mark with their insider plan.
Retention was very polite and offered free CID/VM for 3 years and said basically they'll give me their $9 package free of charge.
So all in i'll be out $30.32 each month.
BTW i also got first 3 months for 50% off, waived $35 activation and a $20 FIDO DOllars credit for being referred
Sweet deal with FIDO and I'm happy....
So there, it's possible to call right away but YMMV
BTW, if anyone's thinking of signing under this plan, it's available until Jan 6 PM me for $20 credit

Reason: exp date added for plan
