Spoke to retentions. They said that if i want the iPhone I shouldn't go on contract just as yet because they haven't started preorders and so he couldn't offer me the $17.50 retention voice plan just yet ($17.50 retention plan requires contract apparently). told me to call back when the iphone preorders start to get that. in the mean time he offered me this for month-to-month.
For $22/month:
200 daytime minutes, 1000 E+W starting at 7pm, Fido to Fido unlimited, Caller ID, VM, 2500 SMS.

It's really hit or miss with offers and different csr's. I was able to get the $17.50 plan last week even though the csr said I had to wait until july 10 to renew a 3yr contract and get the new iphone when it's available. I am pretty certain you'll get it though during your bargaining for a new contract.

Is it Fido to fido (national) or fido-to-fido (local)?
Thanks.
it's local. Confirmed with fido twice.

how reasonable is it to get a $17.50 retention voice plan + $30 retention iphone value pack + $10 credit?

They offered me the $17.50 retention plan, with 12$ additional for unlimited incoming calls ($29.50) and 30$ iPhone value pack, all for $59.50 for 3 years, they didn't offer me any credit (I'm in Montreal).
I didn't accept the offer yet, I will keep negotiating to get at least 10$ credit since I'll be staying for 3 years with them.
Let me know what happens with you!

I don't have any credits with my current plan, I'm not on a contract right now, I just have early evening (5pm) free for 6 months. And to get the iPhone Value Pack, I just called retention and asked them to give me a good plan compared to my current one. They simply give me the one I mentioned without additional effort. That's why I will still have to get the 10-15$ credit. I won't be on a 3 years contract without any additional credit. Beware that, they might tell you "the plan is already credited". We know the plan is retention, but it's NOT already credited. People are getting 10-25$ credits on top of their so-called "credited" plans. So always ask for credit whatever is the retention plan (of course it should be above 25$ so you are eligible for credit I think).

spoke to retentions again for half an hour. turns out the last guy that i spoke to who said that he could only offer me the $17.50 if i go on contract was playing hardball as the girl i spoke to today offered it to me. here's what she offered, no contract reqd:
$17.50 voice plan (200 daytime, EW starting at 5)
$10 value pack (CD, VM, 2500 SMS)
$15 150mb data
$10 credit
$5 data credit
---------
$27.50
i'm pretty happy with that.

That's pretty a good plan! Do you use it on iPhone? And can you plz explain what did you tell them to get the 10$ credit and the 5$ data credit? And how long is the contract?
Also, I am waiting till end of July for iPhone 4 to come in order to be on a contract, what is your case, did you sign it now, or got the offer now and waiting for the iPhone like my case?
Thanks a lot

i have an iphone right now with classic city fido (only unlimited local calling - no add-ons) with a $10 credit. so it comes out to $35. the new retention plan they offered me will come into effect in my next billing cycle.

no contract. just month-to-month. she first quoted me that plan for $42.50. i told them thats out of my price range. i already have a $10 credit on my account and told her about it and she agreed to include it.
as for the data credit, i told them i have an iphone and that i've had it for 2 years now and that in those 2 years i have never used a byte of cellular data as i have always been around wifi and so i wouldnt need much data and therefore i don't want to pay much for it either. thats when she offered me the $5 data credit.
honestly, whatever i said may not have worked with other agents. so if u don't get someone as giving as my agent, tell them u'll think about it and try again later.

i am waiting for the iphone 4 as well before i go on contract. for now my retention plan will be month-to-month. they said that when the iphone 4 preorders start i can call them to sign up for a contract with this new plan and get the iphone 4 at the discounted price.

i'm pretty happy with that.

I called Fido again today and was offered essentially the same thing as you.
$17.50 Voice Plan
$10 Value Pack
$15 150 mb data
And my choice of either:
1. Unlimited Incoming
2. 1000 Long Distance Minutes
3. Upgrade to 500mb data
All for $37.50. So I'll be getting about $15 in credits as well.

How can I get that offer WITHOUT signing a contract? What should I tell them? I need to lower my bill since now it's 72$ before tax for nothing important (100day/1000 e&w, Unl. incoming, early 5pm 6month offer, VVM, CID, WhoCalled, 1GB Data, NO SMS/MMS).
I need to have same offer as yours without contract for now, at least 1 month before iPhone 4 is released. (the one they offered me is the same without credits, but they put it on pending till I sign a contract).
