-I stupidly said ok, but luckily they didn't have any in stock so he just left a note on my account. After thinking about it, this deal isn't very good for me. I want something with cheaper Data.
What do I now can I negotiate something cheaper even though I said ok to this?
-You are not under contract as you haven't taken a phone yet. You can negotiate for a smaller data plan now (if you will use it); or for a new pending plan, as you await the iphone.
-You can also renegotiate again when you call in to order/take possession of the iphone, if you still aren't 100% happy with what you work out now; or if new plans /offers become available with the iphones release.

How did I do? This took 3 calls, first two was to retentions, had them make some offers saying I would think about it. I called 611 today saying I was moving (lie) and that I was switching to wind (not avail in qc). Here's what I got them down to:
300 weekday minutes (unlimited anytime for the first 6 months)
1000 Evenings and Weekends
unlimited incoming
Caller ID, Call waiting, VM, WhoCalled
unlimited SMS and MMS
500mb data (1GB for first 3 months)
Total: $45 per month + tax, no SAF BS.
On a two year plan with no new phone (needed data for my android). New plan only takes effect next month so if an iphone data deal comes back I can call to renegotiate.

Very good deal! $25 unlimited incoming plan with $30 Iphone VP + $10 in credits, 100 bonus daytime minutes, and 6 months of unlimited calling!
Good strategy in holding off on the contract for a month, to see if any exceptional new offers become available with the iPhone release :-)
So the $30 iPhone VP is actually a smartphone VP??? You got comfirmation that it can be used with other smartphones?

I did, I told him I had a sony ericsson X10 and asked if it would work and he said it would. I also went further and asked what would happen if it didn't, to which he replied that I had a 15 day period to cancel if it did not work or if I wasn't satisfied. Fido uses Rogers' network so I am 100% sure it will work since it was originally sold by Rogers. So it isn't a special iphone deal, any smartphone should be able to get it from what I heard.

i want to renew with the iphone 4.
They offer me this :
17.50$(200min,e&w17h)
10$(CID,VM,2500msgtxt)
10$(unl. Incoming)
30$(6gb data)
22$ credit over 36month.
6month unlimited local call.
if they would give me 30$ credit, i would say yes...
i just start to use skype over my 3g, it work great!
i could do 10000 min over my 3g without bust my 6Gb...
for 3$/month it worth it to get on skype!
The first thing that i will do if i accept this offer, is to call back 2-3 day after to cancel Unlimited incoming and to keep the credit.
If they do not accept i should have 14day to cancel my contract

Skype @$3/month is good for outgoing calls not your incoming... you might want to think again about cancelling the incoming. Unless you were already aware of this.
FYI: i tried to cancel my unlimited incoming while they we offering me 6 months of unlimited local calling, as i thought they were redundant. I thought i could save $60, then re-apply the unlimited incoming option back. However, they were going to remove the $10 credit with it, and I was told the credit would not be reapplied when I added back the unlimited incoming option again. :-( Then again I was completely new to retentions and unfamiliar as to how to negotiatie with them :-) Just thought I'd pass along my experience with this, FYI.

I want to add on a data plan to my CityFido. In looking over this thread, it seems there are not any good deals available for this. At least from what I've glanced at, it seems retentions isn't offering anything better than what Fido publicly advertises.
Though I hope I'm wrong. Anyone else come across any good deals that combine CityFido with data?

Looks like you glanced a bit too quickly, as this was posted on THIS page (ok, now the previous page):
To get an idea of what some of the more common Retention plans and options offered, look here: http://forums.redflagdeals.com/10978753-post7335/
Guess it also depends on what you mean by better... if you were specifically looking for the 6Gb plan, no retentions doesnt have it either (except as part of the $80 unlimited plan -similar to your cityfido with unlimited local calls, 6Gb data and unlimeid cdn SMS)

No, I read that. But what did I miss there?
Currently I pay about $55/month (tax included) for CityFido. Fido's current public advertised price for data is $25/month for 500mb (which is minimum that I want).
Can you recommend how I can improve on that using the info in your excellent post? From what I see, the retention data plans are about the same as $25 for 500mb.

-they offer a $5 credit off retail plans...
-the flex plan would save you at least $5 off the retail 500Mb (more if you use significantly less); as well as $5 off retail 1Gb
-they offer a $40 3Gb plan
-there's a $30 VP for smartphones with 500Mb data which is excellent value
these are better value than current retail plans
I also mentioned the $80 unlimited plan with 6Gb, unlimted cdn sms, and unlimited local calling... and people have successfuly negotiated credits to reduce the cost further.

-unlimited incoming and outgoing calls within the GTA local zone
-caller ID
-voice mail
-2500 text messages

-I'm also selling a brand new in box LG Neon TE365F cell phone (MP3, FM Radio, QWERTY slide out keyboard, 2 megapixel camera, touch-screen), details here:
-I used all the Fido Dollars in the account plus my own $30 to purchase this phone before selling the account, but I can sell you both items for a discount (City Fido Unlimited Toronto plan and brand new in box LG Neon TE365F cell phone)
-this is 100% legal/legit and we can even meet at a Fido store to do the tranfer through a Fido store representative. I have all receipts and documentation.
-if you are not sure if Fido allows transfers of this kind, call Fido and confirm for yourself... or go to any Fido kiosk/store.

-I'd be willing to sell both the cell phone and the plan for $175 o.b.o.
-If you are interested, please hurry ;-)
I thought plans cannot be carried over to others willing to takeover other accounts.

Well, I called Fido today and asked them if it is still possible to do this and they said it would not be a problem. But if you are interested and/or curious, I encourage you to call them and double-check for yourself ;-)
