If you currently qualified for HUP, yes your contracts would stack... but you need to be in the last 6 months of your contract, and as you have 11 months remaining you currently do not qualify for HUP (AFAIK, unless you pay the ECF to cancel your current agreement, you won't qualify now)
Call in and ask how you'd qualify TODAY... because as of tomorrow it's going to cost Fido customers more with the new minimum monthly requirements_______________

My Fido Plan: 250day/1000E+W@5/unlimited incoming; CID, VM, 2500SMS; 35min.LD (handy for roaming); flex data <100MB. Skype on my iPhone4 gives me additional outgoing local & US+Cdn LD calls (unl=$3/mo.)

Thanks Thirstyears
I have called before through the 1-877 number and the rep did mention that I called straight throughI told him that I like to deal with the people who can help me out fast with no BS and it all went over fine. I just want to avoid the games with the regular reps. I know what I want, with over 10 years with fido they are fair with me but they like to mess with my plans every now and then. So I did't find any other numbers in your totorials, if there is another way to get straight through that anyone knows, please post or PM.
Thanks

So I just got the 57.50 plan and I tried once more to get unlimited incoming (with credits), as you said it could be possible. However, this rep said they "couldn't apply credits for the $17.50 plan because it is so cheap".
Happier than with the previous plan though...

Just got off the phone with Fido customer rep. They offered me:
-200 daytime minutes
-Unlimited even/weekends starting at 5pm
-Caller ID, Voicemail
-2500 Text
-6GB
for $40.50/month.
This is just a retention deal, I didnt have to threaten to quit and talk to a retentions rep. + I have 2 years left on my contract. Not too bad just for calling in.

You can tell CSR that you need to discuss what is involved in canceling, specifically because you have heard new changes will make it more expensive/difficult for you to upgrade. That should get you through to retentions.
hmm 9:31 EST right now. I think the close at 8PM. Maybe you will get through to their BC office if you call now. Changes are live tomorrow, so it might be too late then._______________

I actually did call them, it took a few times to figure out how to get to them. The second time I called I told them that my plan was too expensive and I quoted the $35 Wind plan, and so he removed my system access fee. I even asked for more text messages and he gave me 2500. I also asked for data, but he said it wasn't possible..... My thinking is that if I would have quoted mobilicity's $25 unltd voice and $10 unltd data, then I would have gotten data possibly. But what he gave me is perfect for now, and when my renewal comes up at the end of April, then I guess I can try to bargain for data then.
To those who helped me out, thank you so much!

My Fido negotiation experience...
Wow. Glad I called Fido and negotiated a new plan last week!
First off - thanks for the information on this thread - I don't think I could have done it without you!
Former plan
Month to month on the $25 voice plan with $10 VM/CID/Who called value pack
I wanted an iphone so I called to see what they would offer me (I have been with Fido for over a year).
Call 1
Told her that I wanted to leave and go to Roger's student deal and she gave me the "oh we have great plans that we offer to good customers like you" and offered:
- 200 daytime, evenings at 5pm, weekends $17.50
- VM/CID/2500 texts $10
- Flex data $10
- TOTAL $37.50
- iphone at the $159/$269 pricing (and i had fido dollars too)
I couldn't get much else out of her. She said that I would have to track down an iphone.
Call 2
called back and inquired about unlimited incoming calling. The guy wouldn't budge - he said that it would bring my monthly total to $45, and that since my plan was so heavily discounted he couldn't do anything. I said thank you and ended the call. i wanted unlimited calling!!
Call 3
called again and told them that I was at the mall Virgin is offering a $40 plan that includes 300 minutes and unlimited calling and asked when he could do for me. With almost no resistance the guy offered me the plan above plus 50 bonus minutes and unlimited incoming calling. He quoted me the price of $32.50. I asked him 3x to restate the deal and he said $32.50.
So I was pretty stoked with that deal, and went to pick up an iphone.
I call Fido to confirm/lock in the $32.50 plan that the last rep offered me and the girl said "oh, you're going to get mad at me!". She explained that the last rep offered me a plan price that couldn't be offered to me. She explained that he put an extra $5 credit on my plan which was not allowed in the system. This rang a bell (the not being able to have credits greater than your voice plan) so I said ok, was nice (what could I do) and then she offered me some random credit of $20.
She did mention that a lot of the reps were offering plans prices (or credits) that were not allowed and she had a lot of people yelling at her when they found out that the quoted deals were not allowed....
So I ended up with the following for $37.50/month (3 yr). Not sure if I could have pushed for more (I was in the car trying to lock in the plan so no access to this forum!) but I'm happy with it!
- 200 daytime/evenings at 5pm/weekends $17.50 (with $7 credit)
- 50 bonus daytime ?
- unlimited incoming calls $10 (less $10 credit)
- VM/CID/2500 texts $10
- 100mb flex data $10

New HUP policy
Here are details of some Rules & Policies that needs to be kept in mind when looking for new plan/renewal
HUP & Renewal policy
1- For all phone upgrade, there will be a 25$ admin fee applied automatically. It doesn't matter if you get the phone in a store or with the call center. Every customer will face those fees, and it is quite rarely waived even at the retention level.
-That 25$ admin fee is there even if you purchase a phone without any agreement
-You will not be able to use your f$ to pay for this fee.
Exception:
-If there is a migration and therefore you get charge the 35$ setup fee (going prepaid to monthly), you will not get charged the administrative fee.
-As said earlier, it won't be waived as a retention offer unless under really good reason situation. Meaning, it won't be easy, you better have some very very good argument. (keeping in mind that Rogers, Bell, Telus and other also have upgrade fees)
-Of course if you return the phone within the 15days/30min policy you will get the 25$ fee waived.
2- To be eligible to renew with a 3Y agreement (smartphone), your base plan has to be of at least 25$.
-To be able to have a data option with an agreement on it, the base plan needs to be of at least 25$. Any change to a lower plan will trigger DECF fee on the account automatically
-To be able to HUP and have the iphone or any android phones, your plan needs have at least 25$ voice + 25$ Data.
-To be able to HUP and have a BB, the plan + data needs to be of at least 35$
-On plan that are less than 25$, the only data option available will be those without term (no 30$vp nor the 6GB).
*** The calculation does not take into account value packs and add-ons
Exception:
-Grandfather clause;
A- Any Cx that has a plan with data option on term activated prior to Dec 1st, 2010, you will be eligible to renew under the same plan and data option. You will need to make the renewal thru the phone. e.i. Cx relation will ship the phone to you. (If you have credit on the account, don't expect to have them renewed automatically)
B- As soon as you change either the data option or the voice plan, you forfeit the grandfather clause. (you would not be able to go from a smartphone data option to the equivalent bb data option)
3-To be eligible to renew with a 2Y agreement, your base plan needs to be of at least 15$
-2Y BB promotional offer; You can have the BB Curve 8520 on 2Y agreement at 30$ if you have a voice plan of 35$ or more that includes unlimited txt. (no need to get a data option with agreement) You will have unlim BBM for free included.
4- One can renew (extend their contract) as early as:
-On a 2Y or 3Y agreement : 180 days (6mths) prior to the end of contract
-As an alternative, to be able to renew before, cx can either: A-pay ECF/DECF to get a new agreement or B-Get charged 20$ X the number of month remaining to renewal period in order to get new agreement. (i.e. 8mths before end of contract, cx can pay 40$ (8mths-6mths=2mths X 20$) to be able to renew).
Renewal Gifts
Every customer that makes a renewal (you need to currently have an agreement) are eligible for a gift. That is even if you do not speak to retention.
A- 6-3mths before the end of contract you can either have 30f$(2y)/50f$(3Y) or a choice of secondary gift (ei. 50 extra min, early nights, 100 txt). If you are given a secondary gift, you will not receive any f$.
B- 3-0mths before the end of contract, cx is not eligible to the f$ but can have a secondary gift.
Credit rules
-At any time, the system will not give more credit (feature or voice/data) on the invoice than the plan value (not counting the added features).
For smartphone under agreement, we can't apply credit so that
-For the Androids and Iphone, the total voice plan + data option - credit = less than 50$
-For the BB, the total voice plan + data option - credit = less than 35$
Voice Credits
1- No voice credit can be applied on the unlimited price plan (35$ unlim, 45$ unlim with can/us txt , 35$ cityfido unlim, 40$ unlim comp. plan)
-Only credit on feature and on data can be added
2- Should be added on plan over 20$. Completely prohibited on the 17.50$ plan
3- When changing plan, retention discount, credits or add-on from previous plan must be removed. (i.e. you have a plan with 10$ discount, you call to switch to the 35$ city fido, the agent will take off the credit since it was part of your previous plan/offer!)
Exception:
None, as of July 2011, even in cases where an agent made the mistake of offering it, it will have to be a TL to apply it, If an agent were to add a voice credit on any unlimited plan or 17.50$plan, they will automatically receive warnings steps that can lead to suspension and dismissal.
Data Credits
1- No data credit can be applied on the 30$ 6GB plan (retention or promotional)
2- No data credit can be applied on retention data option.
Exception :
agent can still "unofficially" give a 5$ discount on the 15$ BB 50 MB without much issue from TL.Last edited by frenchguys; Apr 13th, 2012 at 08:37 PM.

Thanks for the info frenchguys. I'll be posting it over at hofo.
Questions:
-Do value packs and add-ons count toward the $50/$40 total eligibility requirement? Or is it just base plan + data plan?
-Also, are credits included in the calculation? So if someone had a $35 base plan and the $30/6GB plan but had $20 in credits making their total $45, would they be eligible for iPhone/Android HUP? If not, if they then had a $10 VP, making their total $55, would they be eligible?
-Does the grandfather clause mean the person is simply able to renew and keep that plan or does it allow them to HUP and keep their existing plan?Last edited by ceredon; Dec 1st, 2010 at 07:21 AM.

Check my plan on my signature. I think paying $37.50 for that is bit too much. $32.50 is where it should be; worst $35. It doesn't matter someone offered something and the company couldn't honour it, its their problem. You should hit back hard and get a credit elsewhere.

What advice do you guys have for me to ask Fido for a cheaper rate ?
Hello,
I have an Iphone 3GS and been with Fido for just over a year in a 3 year contract. I called Fido about 2 weeks ago to make my bill cheaper cause I felt i was paying too much and made an excuse saying that I was thinking about other carriers for less. Here is what is showing on my current bill.
I believe I originally had the unlimited eve+wk at 7pm and the data plan at $25.00 and the Customer service rep, not retentions i don't think cause i wasn't transferred said he would give me the 5pm unlimited eve + wk and the flex data plan. What do you guys think i could ask for more instead ? I really don't need unlimited text messages i could use about maybe 300 at most and i could probably go for 200 or 250 minutes daytime instead and make my calls mostly after 5. Is there a comparable package from another carrier i could mention to switch..lol
