Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong.
That's what I was told by Rogers. Just the voiceplan itself has to be $30 or greater before add-ons

Has anyone found out exactly what is and what is not included in this plan?
The last Fido EPP plan was the following:
Fido EPP Package Offer
Monthly Service Fee
$17.50
Weekday minutes
200 minutes, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Evening & Weekend minutes
Unlimited minutes, from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. and from Friday 7 p.m.to Monday 8 a.m.
Evenings starting at 5 p.m.
Sets the customer's evening and weekend clock to 5 p.m. (instead of 7 p.m.)
Included Services
Call Waiting, Conference Call
System Access Fee
$6.95
911 Fee
$0.50
Overusage
$0.30/min
So a total of $24.95 with no unlimited incoming, no text message, no VM, no CLID.
VM and CLID was $11.00 additional someone posted, so now you're up to $35.95 already - then add text messaging which is typically another $10.- per month for unlimited or at least $5.- for a limited number.
I think this plan is mostly smoke and mirrors compared to others you can get - depends a lot on your calling pattern of course.

That's the advantage Fido has over Rogers. With Rogers, you HAVE to have AT LEAST a $30 plan. With Fido, that's not necessary (from what I understand)

for those of us who don't think txtmsg, VM CLID are important
for those of us who don't have access to retentions because we are new customer
this is pretty good

Sweet, SFU is still there as a CFS school. As is UBC. SFU held a referendum to get the hell out of it (getting out won 2:1 or something) and UBC got out a while ago I think... I'll tell my fido friends.

The price of the iPhone jumps by $50 if you don't have a voice plan > $30 (so you would pay $249 or $349 for 8 / 16 GB models vs $199 or $299 if your plan was over $30).
But the $30 / 6GB plan is available to everyone. Full stop.

I'm just pointing out that this plan is not nearly as good as people believe.
Fido's monthly rate of $17.50 itself is smoke and mirrors; the fictitious SAF add-on makes that really a $24-$25 plan and the price goes up from there.
I have two plans with Bell (about 6 years old) and one with Virgin I just signed to replace a Fido plan I had.
All of these are better, at least for my calling pattern, than this Fido plan. For the Virgin plan I signed up for just one year (I wouldn't want a longer period) and I still got a nice free flip-phone.

... and which phone company doesn't have SAF?
nobody is saying this phone plan is the greatest ever, but definitely better than what was there before

For example, Virgin and Koodo.

I think Virgin and Koodo are based on Bell or Telus network. I can be wrong.

Koodo is based on Telus (actually, Telus owns Koodo).
I don't know for Virgin though...
