My cousin tried to add a lock to his phone and without knowing some how locked himself out of the sim...They said he requires to buy a new one...is there anything that can be done to save it and his $50?

a sim lock is not possible to override he does need a new sim.

However they should only be $25. Well at least when I worked there they were $25.

You might even be able to find one in the buy/sell/trade forum

How many times did he try? If he fails the SIM PIN a few times, it will revert to the PUK lock. As long as he did not try the PUK 10 times, he can call Fido and ask for the code.

I did that once... stupid me... playing with my phone.

If you did more then 10 trys on PUK... you're going to HAVE to buy a new one. It's now $35 (was $30) for Fido sim card. The ONLY way around it is if you have a friend who has a spare card.
