Just changed to the FPMMM014G plan from my $45 500min/500MB plan. Extra data is indeed $5/250mb as per my confirmation email. I was also able to get the $5 discount for 6 months on this plan. Rep told me that when the 6mo are up, to just call back and I should have no trouble getting it applied for another 6mo. Nice of her to share that info with me!!!!

Got the plan yesterday, saved me a little money. I did get the $5 discount for 6 months. I also asked about the extra GB of data that some people were getting. He told me it's targeted and that anyone on a $45 data plan or lower could receive a text to get the bonus, but that he couldn't apply it himself. He also mentioned that for plans above $45 there were other loyalty rewards being offered by text.

Thanks OP
how to get the 1gb for $10 extra anyone??? anyone had a clue?

Why not just go with Koodo? they have excellent service and it's also $45 + tax.
Which one is better Koodo vs Fido - what do you guys think? I am planning on switching in the next few days.

Thanks for your help!
i vote for koodo but that's only because i get an discount with them. fido has the advantage of having a backup gsm network should you venture in an area with only gsm coverage. before you take the plunge, check with work to see if you have an employee discount

It's a retention plan I got last year.
I was there at the 32$ price error at dell.ca day AND at the 150$ off price error at fs.ca

Fido LTE is much faster than Telus. I have an iPhone for work on Telus and Fido for personal. The fido speed is always more than twice than Telus (Koodo is Telus). Other times, I get almost 4 times faster. Running the test at the same time with the phones side by side.

In B.C. Rogers/Fido LTE is spotty and not reliable and often fails over to 3G, especially Fido. Where I can receive Telus I'm always on LTE and rarely do I ever see 3G.

Well, in Montreal, I tried matching the Fido plan with Telus since i'm with Telus with 6 months left of my 3 years plan and plan on using the CRTC law to my advantage tomorrow, but they claim Telus covers way more areas than Fido and bashing Fido as usual, and can only offer a similar, with less options (such as internation wireless numbers) for 65$/month.

I went to Fido, and they couldn't match exactly the OP plan, but they offer 1Gb, unlimited Canada, Text unlimited in Canada, caller ID and circle calling for 43$/month (BYOD), or 55$/month on a 2 years contract and up to 350$ off a phone (350$ for S6, and 450$ for S6 Edge). There is no voicemail (add 5$ for it and she says it's because the new Voicemail can hold up to 35 messages while the old one is only 3 and is no longer applicable to new plans) Porting over my number from Telus will be free of charge as well as SIM Card. I think she mentioned no activation fee as well.

Maybe I should call and see if I get the same response as in person, being able to text to US since I got lots of friends and family there is such an appealing plan, sigh. If only. lol

My wife just switched from Fido (Rogers) to Koodo (Telus). She gets stronger reception now. We live in east Toronto / Scarborough.

Definitely YMMV, even in the same neighbourhoods.
