Depends on the airline.
Some have a separate section on the aircraft, often only 4 or 6 seats (pods or whatever). The seating is different. Your preferences are all ordered in advance. A different lounge at airports.
It can be as little as a different menu to as much as a suite type of pod. Search first class flights and look at the images. You should know that the first class section is still on the same aircraft so, it basically arrives at the same time as cattle class.

Not all airlines offer First Class anymore, but in general seats are larger, even better food, and more attentive service. On some flights, you'll have access to private cabins + shower spas + in-flight bar.

One other thing to keep in mind that US domestic first class is not real first class. US domestic first class is inferior to AC business class.
The real first class that is a step up from business class is on international routes.

I'm thinking about flying to Asia and the airplane will be a Boeing 777 - 300ER. Pete you are absolutely correct about the fact that First/Business Class arrive at the same time as coach, but I was also thinking that since it's such a long haul, I would like to travel in comfort, atleast, once in my lifetime!!

if it is on CX i vote for the mini cabin in rows 11 or 12 if in business....F...1A or 2A i hear are the best F seats....poor me has not been in F but 11G/12G and 11K and 12K...actually, 11K is slightly wider than G...i think it has to do with the storage.
