Fitting LCD TV into a CRV
Does anyone know if a 52" LCD TV inside it's original package would fit into a honda crv?

I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with it because I was thinking about asking a distant relative to help me pick it up (some one with a 2003 CRV) but I didn't want to bother approaching them without having a rough estimate of whether it would fit or not

Package(WXHXD) 1562 x 910 x 289 mm

I have the first gen CR-V and it would fit, so 2nd gen shouldn't be a problem. At the worst case, you can alway take the box away or place the box in the space between the front and back seats or laid it flat with the back seats down.

I bought a Sony 52" Bravia LCD TV and it didn't fit the Corolla, so we unbox the TV and put it into the trunk with both of the seats down. The leftover box scraps, we just threw it to the back of the car. Everything worked well.

Transporting a flatscreen TV is like moving a plane of glass, there is plenty of discussion on AVSforum. It's best to keep it upright and in its packaging that will absorb some bumps. If you have to lay it on it's side, it's at your own risk and you should have the screen facing up. Out of the box is not recommended.
When you set it up, connect a laptop to it and do a software dead pixel test.

We used a 2008 CR-V EX-L to transport a brand new in the box 52" Sony W series LCD from Future Shop earlier this year. Unfortunately we could not get the tailgate to close as we had three people in the car, but if we had only two I'm sure it would've closed no problem. We ended up using some nylon rope to tie the hatch as tight as possible and I'd say it only needed another 4 inches to close.
