Flash for D90 - Metz 50-AF1 or SB-600

Hi,

I'm looking for a flash for my D90....my intentions is that I will not be getting a secondary flash after this one, so no need to have the ability for a master/slave. I was originally looking at the SB-600 and when I went into Amazing Photo, the gentleman also offered me the Metz 50-AF1. The pricing
being the same for the 2 flashes.

There are some benefits to the Metz when compared to the SB600, like Made In Germany, Horizontal Swivel, 24-135mm range.

I personally never heard of Metz, but going thru the internet, there seems to have been some very good reviews of the 48-AF1...the 50 AF1 is replacing
the 48 AF-1. Not much difference between the two though.

Any thoughts?

What are the prices we're talking about?

I did a quick search on Google and there are a few comparison threads out there between these two flashes, looks like the Metz gets a slight edge. I was going to suggest going with Nikon for the i-TTL alone (which works wonders) but it looks like Metz's flashes have Nikon i-TTL support as well so... yeah. I think Metz gets recommended by a nose.

Get a nissin Di866!! How come everyone forgots about Nissin. I have two Nissin Di662 brand new costs less then $400.

I'll second the Nissin Di866. Just got one. Great flash and very easy to use UI The Nikon version does do i-TTL.

Oh MY!

I was looking at the 50 just to have it in my bag, the 600 is only OK, the 700 isn't worth the premium, and the 900 is nuts!

The price of the Nikon SB-600 was $260 (taxes in), whereas the price of Metz was $250 (taxes in).
