Flights to Asia - Options I'm missing?

I'm putting together a trip to Japan later this year from Toronto, and would like to add in a stopover in another Asian centre on the way there. I want to fly direct from YYZ to the stopover. So far the options I'm aware of are:

YYZ-TPE on Eva
YYZ-HKG on Cathay
YYZ-ICN on Korean or AC

I'd appreciate suggestions of cities (and airlines) outside of these ones. Preference to those who fly premium aircraft (777, 787, A380).

Air Canada flies to PEK, PVG, HKG, HND, NRT, HKG, ICN, from Toronto. All are either 777 or 787,

There are plenty of options.

Hainan flies from YYZ to PEK on a 787. China Southern flies from YYZ to CAN on a 777. China Eastern flies from YYZ to PVG on a 777.

The only airline that uses an A380 from YYZ is Emirates to DXB.

There's also YYZ-MNL on Philippine Airlines, if you were considering visiting Manila on your way to Japan. They use the 777.

See other thread on reasons why you should avoid China Eastern.

Please let us all know what you ultimately decided on.... curious to hear your choice and why...

YYZ-LHE-NRT on PIA. Comes up at $1588 CAD or so in Economy, a little over double that in Business. 777's on those sectors I believe. 9-across instead of the 10-across that everyone else is doing these days on the 777-300ER. Totally dry airline though.
