People on the radio were going on and on about this.. Some reporter lady on 680 news said its like mind blowing, and shocking.. Somehow I think some are more affected by it than others

Food Inc.
I just finished watching this movie, and I have to say, I wasn't really all that shocked by it, I was aware of the issues facing the US food system, my question though is, is the Canadian food system facing the same issue, or have we not gone that far yet?

The first half of the movie was good, but the second half was boring and dry. Overall, a weak documentary that brings no new knowledge to the table.

So is the Canadian food system in the same shape as the American system? Is there somewhere I can find that information out, preferably in a snappy and cleverly named documentary?

Does Mad Cow bring anything to mind? You really need to educate yourself. Oh wait, perhaps you should not, you may starve to death LOL.
The movie just lays out a few facts, lots of conjecture, tons of bad examples and then has naysayers and doomsdayers and extremists make world ending assumptions and predictions. I am only surprised that someone beat Michael Moore in making of this movie.

So Eric Shlosser and Michael Polan are extremist nuts? I guess by your standards investigative journalists are simply people with a bone to pick against our great corporate titans and any academic author not subsidized by the agricultural industry is someone a hype-raising liar doing fallacious science.
This reminds me of a recent interview I heard with Michael Moore where he was addressing how everyone calls him a liar. He mentioned that he still has a $10,000 bounty for anyone who can demonstrate one falsehood from any of his movies and how no one has been able to claim it. Why? Beacuse there are no falsehoods. Every fact he he provides is checked by his team of fact checkers, then by the movie studio lawyers, then by representitives of the insurance companies who insure the studio projects.
Editorializing is one thing, obviously a product of the filmmaker's story telling and rooted in opinion, but every fact about how our food is raised and the effect modern food production has had on our food supply and our health and the abundance of corn in pretty much every consumer product is 100% true.
Enjoy your E Coli.

Who said extremists? Are you so naive as to believe everything everybody says? You also don't know what the motive of the moviemakers was. Just becasue you saw the movie doesn't make it so. A documentary is often to present the filmakers opinion on the event or issue.
So, in your infinite wisdom, you actually think that this is an unbiased, factual, complete story of the food industry in North America? No chance there are missing pieces? Not a slim possibility of there being another side to this story or that some facts have been withheld? Really?
Michael Moore can make a statement that he has not been taken up on his offer easily. He has not lied, he just never told the whole truth. For example, I heard you beat your Wife (Mother, Brother, Sister etc)...it may not be true but, it is not a falsehood either because that is what I heard.
I am not a fan of Michael Moore, you are correct. I saw a few of his movies (note that he does not call them documentaries or even factual). Like they say, never let the truth get in the way of a good story. I could go on but here are a few things that may interest you. Just the other side of a story.

Haha, bro, you're the one said extremists:
Since you're so familiar with the issues here, why don't you provide some unbiased sources on that provide a counterpoint to the "doomsdayers" of food inc? Oh and please make sure it's not from a agro-business lobby group like the National Farm Association or the Meatpackers association, or even the USDA, which are all funded directly by the corporations they represent and supposedly regulate.
And as far as your example about me beating someone, it is absolutely a falsehood and it's slander to boot. Just because you heard it as opposed to made it up yourself doesn't preclude you from being a liar. It's a heresay lie, but you're still a liar. Hypothetically speaking, that is.
Since we're getting into lofty aphorisms here, let me provide you with one to go along "never let the truth get in the way of a good story". How about "it's cheaper to pay off the victims than to change the system". The applies quite heavily to all the cases of lethal pathogens entering the food supply due to lax inspection of the meat packing companies. Oh but they have more efficient QA systems now, so there's no need for increased inspection, so they say.
As far as those Michael Moore critiques, one site was completely based on ad hominem attacks (he's fat, he makes money, therefore he can't be trusted for representing the poor and disaffected) the other had some choice "deceits" like this:
Deceit: George W Bush was the only president who had his inugaral limo with eggs
Fact: Bush only had one egg thrown (therefore "eggs" is a lie) and Nixon was protested during his innugaration (no reference provided, no indicator whether an egg was thrown)
Wow, they totally exposed MM as a fat liar. I can't believe anyone trust what he says ever. </sarcasm>

Ooooo Weee, struck a nerve with you eh??? Sorry for defaming your heroes. Point is, I am sure you don't hit your Mother (although I cannot prove it). I am not a liar, I heard that from someone, It is also not slander, just repeating what I heard.

I do not believe Michael Moore is evil, I just think he does things for Michael Moore. Nothing wrong with that if you understand that there may be a bias and others have opinions too. Cults thrive on one sided, unbalanced informational input.
Sorry OP, went off topic and will quit now.

I saw the documentary and it wasn't bad. However, a few years ago I saw a few videos which demonstrated a much harsher reality of the meat industry.
Examples included (that I can remember):
- Cows with visible tumors (on their heads) still being butchered for meat.
- The killing of turkeys and chickens with crow bars
- The inside of the chicken farms and the state of the chickens being used for meat
Overall, the documentary was quite tame and at times boring (like someone already mentioned)._______________
