Noticed in a couple of flyers Jane's Pub Style Chicken is now 680g down from 800g (or they're just putting out a lighter variant so that people won't know which weight they're buying)

Maybe those $4 off inside the box coupons (expiring soon) were meant to soften the blow?

Does the $3.99 price mean that the item is free with the $4 off coupon?
If they really wanted to screw people over, they should have shrunk each box down to 639g (or less), since the coupon is only good on 640g or more.

I noticed that and one location no longer has the $4 coupon boxes but they expire Aug 30 anyway
Maybe some retailers get their own special sized product like Dollarama IIRC has a mid sized Doritos bag not found in supermarkets

2% Milk @ FreshCO, just bought it at new price $4.55, up from $4.27

Have other stores increased in price too? Like Nofrills, foodbasics, metro, etc ?

Yes, it was on the news 2 weeks ago that milk prices were going to go up.

However, that was a price increase. I haven't seen any "shrinking" of milk packaging since Neilson put their tail between their legs and put their Truetaste back to the original size. Hence, why you would chose this thread to ask the question?

I don't have any current milk information myself, but I sure wish chocolate milk would stop going between 750 ml and a litre back and forth.

Last time I saw bagged chocolate milk it was 3 litres not 4. Don’t know if that’s changed or not.

Thanks for the heads up (and I think it's appropriate in this thread)
Still getting milk for less than $4 for 4L thanks to 20x the points at SDM

invite wrote: I noticed a change in feel of my OJ cartons when loading them into the fridge today, and see that Tropicana has dropped from 1.75 litres to 1.65 litres - that makes a 5.7% drop in product volume (or if you prefer, a hidden 5.7% increase in price).

The previous time that Tropicana changed their OJ packaging size was 2009, when they decreased the carton size from 1.89 litres to 1.75 litres.

They didn't even add the customary "Now Easier To Handle!" type promotional sticker on the carton to try to soften the blow. :(
Costco still has 1.89L in 2018. 12.99 for 4 cartons. Makes it 3.25 each.

It's been that way at Costco for a while. Here's hoping that Tropicana doesn't change that any time soon.

Actually they're about the same size but now you only get half as many in the box. I wonder if the price is the same?

Sort of reminds me of the old quip attributed to Yogi Berra. He stopped at a pizza shop after a baseball game. When the pizza was ready the owner asked him if he wanted it cut into 4 or 8 slices. Berra allegedly replied, "Make it 4. I don't think I could eat 8 slices."

Haven't bought milk in the past two weeks but looking at today's receipt, SDM Neilson 4L milk is $4.47 (up 20 cents)

Yabbut, if you have a PC Optimum account you can get 20x points at SDM plus more points with PCF MC. After applying their cash value ($1 per 1,000 points) the net cost may be under $4.

(Caution: That's Mental Accounting. Before the price increase you got the same level of points applied to the old price. So you're still paying more even if the net cost is still under $4.)

Just noticed Old El Paso taco seasoning pouch went from 35g to 24g. I'm going to have to find another brand we like (Clubhouse wasn't good), or find a comparable homemade recipe.

Did you do a price check? Sometimes the sticker price is for the larger size while the slightly smaller size scans for less.

One product I find myself buying more often now because they give you more is Pepsi. The cans come in 15 packs while coke is only 12 for the same price. I thought it was a limited time offer and it stills says 3 bonus cans but it's been like that for at least a year I think. I used to only drink coke products but it's close enough in taste.

Also recently saw that simply orange is noticeably smaller at 1.54L instead of 1.75L for the same price.

Is it meant to season the same amount of meat?

I always make my own blend as I have all the essential spices on hand. 4 parts chili powder ( I buy the medium bags), 2 parts cumin, 1 part paprika, garlic powder, oregano, dried onion or onion powder, salt and pepper. You can add some cayanne pepper if you want it spicy.
