Because it's Food Basics. Friends don't let friends buy "fresh" fruits/vegetables and meat there.

I always notice a large quality difference between the ground beef at discount grocery stores and ground beef at Costco.

costco is $2 more per pound. how about ground pork? seem to be 2.50 a lb at Costco. Ground meat are probably junk. Why would they ground good stuff since they cost a lot more per pound not grounded.

I have always found the ground beef or pork at Costco to be quite good. The ground pork is awesome made into burgers with just a bit of Lawry's seasoning salt and cooked on a George Foreman grill.

Yes, it is more expensive, but the ground beef at these supermarkets smell off compared to Costco's, which directly translated into a difference in taste in my chilli's and spaghetti sauce.

Does anyone know the meats used for these vs at Costco?

is the pork fatty? It's lean ground pork not extra lean. Costco price is pretty cheap at regular price. I can only get 2.50 when on sale else where and quality might not be as good.

I use ground meat to make kabob since it's too much work to ground them at home.

I have no issues with it not being lean enough. Sometimes I will buy ground pork elsewhere and am shocked at how much fat is rendered off as it is cooked...

If you really want to know how lean it is ask them at Costco what percentage of fat it is compared to extra lean..

This sale starts when the stores open on Thursday. How do you know that these will still be on sale?
