How do women, careers and marriage mix? Not well, say social scientists.

Guys: A word of advice. Marry pretty women or ugly ones. Short ones or tall ones. Blondes or brunettes. Just, whatever you do, don't marry a woman with a career.

Why? Because if many social scientists are to be believed, you run a higher risk of having a rocky marriage. While everyone knows that marriage can be stressful, recent studies have found professional women are more likely to get divorced, more likely to cheat, less likely to have children, and, if they do have kids, they are more likely to be unhappy about it. A recent study in Social Forces, a research journal, found that women--even those with a "feminist" outlook--are happier when their husband is the primary breadwinner.

as a guy, i think the counter-point article on that same page has more merit than the first *********'s conjectures.

This interesting thing is that the "Guy's Perspective" is not based on personal opinion but he has referenced social studies.

Note:

If a host of studies are to be believed, marrying these women is asking for trouble. If they quit their jobs and stay home with the kids, they will be unhappy (Journal of Marriage and Family, 2003). They will be unhappy if they make more money than you do (Social Forces, 2006). You will be unhappy if they make more money than you do (Journal of Marriage and Family, 2001). You will be more likely to fall ill (American Journal of Sociology). Even your house will be dirtier (Institute for Social Research).

Why would you call the author a *********?
Just because you don't agree with his comments?

Why not try to refute.

Personally I can see the logic and I have seen these issues in real life.

Yes - but would they be interested in you?
These women still want successful men that earn a lot.
The type of guys that don't need to check RFD for deals.

There's a difference between NEEDING to check rfd cos you're tight on $, and wanting to get the best bang for your buck.

I'd want a guy who'd get the best bang for our buck.

I think being frugal makes you successful in life. People who pay too much for stuff are usually losers.

To some people it is not worth spending 15 to 20 minutes scanning RFD Hot Heals on a daily basis to save a few dollars.

To some people saving $20 is totally unimportant because they can afford to buy something when they want to without worrying about Price Protection and sales etc.

I like getting a deal. I like the concept of RFD.

But I know people that fly to Sweden of Holland to see the Rolling Stones - spending $thousands on the 3 or 4 day trip and they certainly don't care about saving a few $ and being frugal.

A woman who earns over $80,000 (MBA educated) would probably not be interested in a guy that has to be frugal.

I think being frugal makes you successful in life. People who pay too much for stuff are usually losers.

Very interesting - people who can afford not to be frugal are now considered 'losers'.
