I always liked the monster-of-the-week episodes more than the mythology ones anyway.
Me too and if they stick to the original plan, it's all stand alones after the premiere until the finale

FOX TV boss Dana Walden shared with the TV press that new season with start and end with a "mythology" episode with the eight between stand alones

I read a review somewhere and the reviewer described (some of) the standalone/MotW episodes as still including some mythology references to varying degrees. Mythology might not be a focus in those episodes, but don't be surprised when it makes some appearances.

Bad first episode. Not sure what they were thinking.

Finally watched the 2nd episode. Meh.
The writing is terrible. Some of the ideas had potential, but it felt so contrived.
Especially the action sequences.

The show is toast. They should have just kept it the monster or mystery of the week. Those were the most enjoyable episodes.

If the show wasn't toast before the news that Gillian Anderson isn't coming back, it is now

Hopefully they don't end the season on another cliffhanger....

I liked the first few minutes of this weeks episodes. I kind of liked the action scene with the ramones music... my interest faded as the episode moved on....

She said last October that she was finished with the X-Files...

“I’ve said from the beginning this is it for me," Anderson told TV Guide Magazine ahead of the 11th season premiere. She had told fans at New York Comic Con last year that she was finished but reiterated her statement to the magazine. "I was a bit surprised by people’s [shocked] reaction to my announcement … because my understanding was that this was a single season."

Last night's was the old (maybe stale to some) rhythm but the underlying mystery wasn't compelling nor really explained
Interaction between the agents was good IMO
YMMV

Was that cut in the show intentional? He was going to say (I think) GM but only got the G out and then there was a skip.

Overall, a great episode...

That was a good episode. These types of quirky episodes were always my favourite.
Feel like that memory effect might explain tons of the cray cray in the OT forum. Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes

Originals are in Netflix, and best part is that all the seasons now are 16:9 as they have been remastered (previously early seasons were 4:3)
