At that moment, I felt this intense kinda, frightening feeling (like your parents bracing themselves in a car when your learning to drive and it looks like your gonna run into the truck ahead of you.). My mind was semi-conscious though. I could hear my mouth open to snore a bit and I knew my eyes were closed. And when I was frightened, I was thinking to myself “ok, stay calm, breathe normally, this feels like sleep paralysis”. I kinda new it was a dream, but I was too busy thinking about the dream because it felt real at the moment and I was kinda frightened too. It wasn’t like those regular dreams where you wake up afterwards remembering what happened. I knew what was happening at the moment I was dreaming about it. I snapped out of it after a few minutes and was like “whao, what the? That was trippy”.
Anyways, anybody know what this is? Is it vivid dreaming? Sleep paralysis? First time something like this happened to me. Good thing there was no old lady sitting on my chest when I opened my eyes after I woke up. That’d be really freaky.
I guess you are just too tired

Freaky sleeping experience.

I think you experienced a lucid dream.
Apparently you can train yourself to have lucid dreams if you really want to. It's different from normal dreaming because everything you experience feels more vivid and real - like you're in virtual reality or something.
For people who are good at it, you can choose what you want to dream about each night while you sleep - you can go on adventures, have conversations with anyone you wish, or even discover things about yourself that are hidden deep within your psyche.
I heard somewhere that you start training yourself to dream lucidly by doing just what you did by accident. As you lay down to go to sleep, you have to somehow pay attention and try to retain an iota of conciousness as you drift off to sleep, perhaps thinking about what you want to dream as you do this. It's difficult to master, but sounds like it could be a lot of fun if you find out how to do it.
