Free Car Washes @ Esso
I noticed this recently, not sure if it's been posted. If you visit Esso, you'll notice a little sign next to the cash (in Ontario at least as far as I know) that says "If we don't ask you if you'd like a car wash, it's free (with fuel purchase)"
So far I've gotten one free Luxury wash (10.99 Value) cause she never asked.... I usually pay at the pump with my speed pass, but going inside to pay with my speed pass for the chance at a free car wash is worth it!

Good tip but they'll probably catch on sooner or later and you'll start to run out of cashiers ...

Um...it's on the first line on the first post.
"If we don't ask you if you'd like a car wash, it's free"

They are supposed to ask you if you want a car wash today, kind of like the McDonald's people "do you want fries with that" question.
If they don't ask you "do you want a car wash today" (or something along those lines), then you get a car wash for free.

So if they forget to ask you if you want a car wash, but don't punch in that you get a free car wash, what's the point? (Sorry, need my morning coffee...)

Let's try that again. When you pay for your gas inside, if they don't ask if you would like a car wash as well, you point that out to them and they will have to offer you a free carwash.

Wow, that's two people that needs coffee or something to wake em up:
1) Walk in to pay for gas and say HI to the cashier
2) If you see that little sign that says "If we don't ask you if you want a car wash, it's free!", then wait and see if they ask you if you want a car wash.
3) if they DON'T ask you if you would like a car wash as you pay for your gas...point to the sign and get a car was FREE.
Of course, if the sign isn't there...you can't get a free car wash. And just in case there are more sleepy people...no you can't force them not to say it by covering their mouth or pretending you didn't hear them say that they asked for a car wash.
And no I don't work as esso, that was a real gas sign from last year on the left.

Its like the Seinfeld episode where they say the tellers will say "Hello" or else you get 20 bucks... Kramer harasses them to death coz the teller said "Hey" but they finally reach an agreement since it started with an "H"... lol.
Try your luck!

When did Canada abandon the public education system. OP post was very clear.
Looks to be Esso found a way to make a cashier job even lousier. Wanna bet the mgr gives them heck for each free car wash.
Remember kids, get a good education (yes, that means learn to read) to reduce your chance of working in a gas station.
