I tried it. But I couldn't make it to work. I got a busy signal.

When did you create/activate your Voip User sip account?
If let's say you activated it today in their website, it'll take 3 days before you can place calls using those settings.
So do this on Voxalot:
Under Providers: Enter your VoipUser settings, Active and Register Set to Yes.
Under Member Details: Turn off Voicemail
Under Forwading set to forward all calls to eg. 001-416-111-1111 Via provider VoipUser (the 001 in front is important for VoipUser it seems.
Wait 72 hours to test if activated today on VoipUser

If the other party is a jajah user, calls are free. If they're not a user, I usually just register their number in another active account of mine then delete it afterwards.
I was trying this out again the other day. What if you don't register and just enter the phone numbers on the main page? Is there any charge for this and is there a call duration limit? Couldn't find the info on the website last i checked.

If you try it, it says Free Trial call. Then on the phone it says call is limited to 5 minutes.

I see. That's what I thought. Was too afraid to try it out again and have them keep my phone number on record for spam/marketing purposes

Does it also take phonegnome 72 hours to update. This is an exciting prospect. I am moving to the Netherlands for a few years and would love to have my Canadian friends be able to have NO long distance charges no matter what city they are in. To call a Netherlands cell phone costs about $0.20 a minute. Even cooler would be if I could use this with a cell phone when I travel to another country. What part of it takes 72 hours to setup?
At the moment when I dial the number I just get a busy signal.

PhoneGnome is instant. VoipUser takes 72 hours.
So you have followed the instructions on the first page:
Made PhoneGnome Account using the number you want reachable
Confirmed with a call from them
Set up at VoXalot
And you are getting a busy signal?
SideNote: Uh..., services like PhoneGnome and others are offering this right now, but there is no guarantee it'll work next week/month/year. It is not something you can rely on entirely, but for the moment it is working flawlessly.

I'm getting a busy signal.
Do I have to have the phonegnome client running on my computer as well? Or does it forward properly even if it isn't running?
