The Guides are such that there is a Free Version (via PBXes and/or MySipSwitch), or a $15/year at VoXalot can give you better voice quality....
Both versions make use of VoXalot in one form or another.
Unfortunately, one of the greatest things MySipSwitch was good for, was pulling TPad into the mix, however TPad no longer works through MySipSwitch (TPad possibly blocked MySipSwitch, see http://www.tpad.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=404), that said the guides have been adjusted for a way to get around this with PBXes...
Also, anyone that has or is planning to set up with PhoneGnome, there may be some issues in the next little while:

No one offers free termination in india, its too costly to give free termination to India.
If you want to replace voxalot, you maybe wanna check mysipswitch

Is sipnumber and freedigits now only Voicemail and SoftPhones !!
I am able to call and leave a voice mail but can't get to ring my US number to cellphone ?
I followed your guidelines from guide 5 using pbxes.com [after mysipswitch] but nothing is working out.
What exactly is the sip server for sipnumber ?

If you call SipBroker then enter the VoXalot number (what I refer in the guide as VoXalot-1st), does your cell ring then?
If this works, then go on SipNumber/FreeDigits, and where it says to forward calls set it to 123456@voxalot.com (123456 replaced with your actual VoXalot-1st)
btw, PhoneGnome may not be working, read in my prevous post

PhoneGnome is working fine.
I was able to call my self through sipbroker's access number and enter my 1st voxalot account id.
I followed exactly your guide 5 and was able yesterday to get a UK DID [orbtalk] number and call my cellphone when I called that UK number or when I called through Sipbroker's access numbers, so looks like PhoneGnome is working fine.
For Sipnumber/Freedigits I tried mysipswitch but no registration was possible, for the server option I tried all kind of possibilities, then I tried to setup a trunk and incoming route as in guide 5 [your alt when mysipswitch does not work] in PBxes but the same problem.
How to call a sipnumber DID # through sipbroker ?
Once again appreciate your help, without your tutorials this all was so overwhelming.

You are trying too hard, it's easier than that...
First things first, I hope you are using MySipSwitch to point OrbTalk to your VoXalot account (although you said that was working fine)
For SipNumber, erase the trunks and whatever else you have set up elsewhere. Then log in to your account at SipNumber/FreeDigits (you can log in in any of those). Right near the top of the page you'll see a table that asks you to enter a number to forward to, on the firsl line enter your VoXalot-1st URI (in the format 123456@voxalot.com, or 123456@us.voxalot.com). Remember to click save. If it doesn't work right away, wait a bit.

I am just not able to login into freedigits or sipnumber tried it with opera [ new download ] and firefox [uninstalled all extensions] but the login does nothing just get the same page again.
Any way I think I sipnumber/freedigits are not worth and am giving up. I am now going to try out grandcentral with their US number.
Has anyone tried this
"4. Integrating Skype in a SIP PBX
PBXes should not scary anymore. As showed by this article even Windows users can setup in less than 20 minutes a full feature PBX with unlimited extensions, voice mail and call attendant. Skype can be integrated very easily in such setup by using free software from NCH Swift Sound as described by this article.
5. Call Skype contacts from mobile phone
You can do this by integrating Skype in your own PBX as described by previous hack, or by using an online service such as this one, or even by doing your own setup using a free piece of software called Vox for Skype."

I have had issues logging in to to new accounts too, it is a hit and miss scenario, but I assumed you had managed to login in before (have updated the original post with a note)
Some alternatives:
Try getting an IPKall number, should be easier.
As for GC, if you are in US/Canada, you can get it to ring your cell directly (no VoIP workaround required in between). If you are elsewhere, then get an IPKall number, and forward GC to IPKall. Or point GC to a Gizmo number (1-747), and use MySipSwitch to point Gizmo to the VoXalot account that rings your phone.

To use skype remotely, your best bet is a box like this from eBay
http://cgi.ebay.ca/USB-VOIP-SKYPE-to...QQcmdZViewItem
Still, your computer has be on at all times, and you have to hook this up to a phoneline to access it remotely....
Some of the mobile based VoIP services will let you use skype via your CellPhones WiFi, but that's about it:

http://www.iskoot.com/
(cannot attest if/or how well they work however)

For VoIP use buy the PAP2, however the one from Staples is locked to Vonage, unless you have someone to do the unlocking for free/cheap, I'd say buy an unlocked PAP2/PAP2-NA of eBay instead (you can't use the PAP2 for Skype though)
The D-Link is not the same as the PAP2 in this case, it can be used to link skype to a normal phone like the device I mentioned on that eBay link...however it cannot be used for other VoIP services (think of this DLink as USB sound card with special drivers for Skype)....
Personal opinion, unless you can't wait, don't buy either for the price, check the forums or eBay

I don't know your situation, but I think you are rushing into this....
Anyways, whether you buy from Staples or TigerDirect, it'll cost the same after shipping....
Buy the D-Link from Staples and keep the receipt...
(I'd look for another one on eBay in the meantime, and return the D-Link to Staples when you get the one from eBay
)
Hope this helps!!!

ACANAC and SIPBROKER
Hello everyone.
I've done the Voxalot+Phonegnome+PBXES.com+SIPBROKER thingy on my PSTN phone lie and it works fine.
Now I would like to do the same with my Acanac phone line. My understanding is that I should simply call sipbroker and dial eastern.acanac.com 's extension and my phone number, but it doesnt work.
I could also do the Voxalot+Phonegnome+PBXES.com+SIPBROKER procedure for my acanac line, but I didnt get the phonegnome phone call so now I would have to pay up 10$.
Is there a free alternative to registering my acanac line to phonegnome?
Thanks!

I assume you have an actual phone number at Acanac.... Keep in mind, you gotta check the email from phonegnome and click on that link for the call to be initiated....Try the registration process at PhoneGnome again...
The only other option if that fails is to see if Acanac can be registered with PBXes or MySipSwitch....
